Hi, I’m Stasia! I’m a full-time kimono stylist and kimono portrait photographer, running inKIMONO—my biggest pride and joy—since 2018. This year marks the 7th anniversary of inKIMONO, a project that started as a shy idea and has blossomed into nearly 800 kimono photoshoots (and counting!). It also happens to be my 13th year in Japan, so 2025 has no choice but to be amazing with numbers like these.

Kimono also started as a hobby for me, but when I realized I could combine two things I love and I’m fairly decent at — kimono and photography—that’s when inKIMONO was born.
While running a one-person business keeps me busy most of the time, believe it or not, it’s not my whole personality!
I’m a huge fan of music, live gigs, festivals— after going to Leeds Festival this year I even decided to start playing bass guitar (though my talent in that field is a work in progress). I’ve been a faithful MCR fan since 2004, and this year I’m taking my first-ever trip to the US to see them again! It’s perfect timing, too, as I’ll be celebrating my 35th birthday then and it shall be ✨unforgettable✨.
This might be a very millennial thing, but I “enjoy” true crime podcasts and darker, supernatural themes in general. I’ve seen pretty much every vampire movie out there. I have a fear of deep sea and whales, but I’m okay with sharks (go figure?).
I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I’m an anarchist at heart, with freedom and fairness being values I hold closest.
There are two things I’ll always consider worth investing in: life experiences and education. Sharing my knowledge with others has always been something I enjoy, and that’s exactly how my newest project,, came to life!

It was definitely quite an experience to join one of the most famous events in Asakusa, and I’m glad I did! This year’s Oiran Dochu — Yoshiwara courtesan procession, or in current times reenactment of what such parade looked like in Edo Period — was organized for the 19th time and 1st time since 2019. I moved to Asakusa at the end of 2019 and we all know what happened in 2020, so I actually hadn’t even seen the parade before! Who would have thought I’d be marching in it in 2023?!
This time I was a tekomai 手古舞, who were geishas wearing men’s attire for various festivals. I am wearing a beautiful embroidered nagajuban (all tekomai had a different pattern on their sleeve) with one sleeve out, a Yoshiwara tsunagi 吉原繋ぎ pattern kimono, hakama pants called Tattsuki and waraji sandals. On my back you can see a decorative Hanagasa. During the procession I was holding a lantern with “my” name (七海 Nanami) and an iron club. All outfits are historically correct and it was an amazing experience to be able to wear something so special.
It was a bit hard to fit in a rather closed group of people, who already knew each other from previous events etc, but spending a few hours together on the day of the parade changed everything! I’m hoping to take part in more Asakusa / Yoshiwara events and I’m already considering becoming a tekomai again next year! 🙌
