“Someone has told me that someone else can do it cheaper, what shall I do?”
And honestly,
If someone is only booking you based on price… why would you want them?
“Someone else can do it cheaper” is a quote from someone I definitely do not want to work with.
Trust your worth.
If someone loves your work and is gutted they can’t afford you, that’s up to you whether you do a discount or try to work something out with them, but making you compete based on price alone? With no appreciation for your work? It’s a no from me.
I think sometimes we forget that weddings are a luxury not charity, they come with huge responsibility, the only thing couples have left at the end of the day is your images; there’s no room for mess ups, even that alone isn’t worth the stress of being cheap, unless you want to go grey sooner.
Your work may only be worth a small amount to some people before the wedding, but after the wedding, those images are priceless.
Anyone else ever discounted because they have felt sorry for someone’s budget and then turned up to their lovely big homes whilst driving a car that’s nearly broken down? Because I have 😆🙋♀️
Trust me, i learnt the hard way. Have some respect for your pricing and your work.
True story - I once had someone question my pricing.
So I asked what they did for work… when they told me, I said I could probably find someone cheaper to do their job too 👀
They ended up telling me all the reasons why they’re worth what they do, they did book me… and after the wedding, the groom said:
“I get it now”.
I was nervous having that conversation but I also had nothing to lose by having that conversation, and I’m very glad that I didn’t back down.
people don’t always understand your value until they experience it.
So don’t shrink yourself.
