Nirmal Mondal draws connections from Murshidabad’s architectural and spiritual heritage in his works. The sculptural forms echo the structures of temples and mosques, reflect on faith, conflict, and coexistence- unfolding layered narratives of identity and oral histories.

Minimal yet meditative, his works resemble quiet monuments that are subtle in form but rich in meaning. Through clay, he evokes memory, belief, and belonging, creating spaces for introspection and the silent weight of shared histories.

Moumita Basak, an eco-feminist artist from West Bengal, works with discarded textiles, threads, and waste cloth and materials rooted in domestic spaces and women’s labor. Through slow, tactile processes like stitching and layering, she transforms them into intimate yet powerful works that question fast fashion, gender inequality, and ecological neglect.

Her practice reclaims undervalued materials and gestures, weaving together narratives of care, memory, and resistance where the personal becomes deeply political.

At SRISHTI ART
SRISHTI ART is pleased to present ‘Triloka,’ our upcoming exhibition that brings together three artists whose distinct practices converge through explorations of material, memory, marginal politics, heritage and personal narratives.

Featuring works by Moumita Basak, Nayanjyoti Barman, and Nirmal Mondal, the exhibition highlights a dynamic interplay of diverse mediums and perspectives.

Moumita Basak, an eco-feminist artist, works with discarded textiles, embroidery threads, and waste cloth; materials traditionally associated with domestic spaces and women’s labor. Her practice reclaims and recontextualizes these elements, weaving together narratives of sustainability, gender, and lived experience.

Nayanjyoti Barman’s multidisciplinary practice navigates visual memory, marginal politics, and the materiality of everyday life. Through sculpture, and installation, he constructs alternative archives that foreground personal and regional histories often overlooked or left undocumented.

Nirmal Mondal, a ceramic artist, draws deeply from the architectural and spiritual heritage of Murshidabad. His sculptural forms evoke temples and mosques, reflecting layered histories of faith, conflict, and coexistence.
