A lovely pre Christmas girly night out at 🥂
I honestly can’t believe this was almost a month ago already 😱
I’ve been raving about Lucia since my last visit with Nick, so of course I had to persuade the girls to come along and try it for themselves.
Danielle and I shared the beef tartare and truffled mushrooms to start. The tartare was absolutely stunning! so fresh and full of flavour.
I won’t lie though, the mushrooms were a bit of a let down for me; very stringy and the sauce was bland.
I did try some of the bolognese arancini which were incredible, and as a table we shared the goat’s cheese & caramelised onion garlic bread which was spot on and had looaads of goats cheese in it 👌
For mains, I had the steak, which was cooked beautifully and full of flavour. I also stole a few bites around the table (as you do 🤭) the steak gnocchi was gorgeous, and the spinach & ricotta cannelloni was equally delicious.
Despite a small miss, Lucia still delivers on atmosphere, service and most of the food ✨🍝🥩
This was my first visit to Zoya, though Nick has been a few times before as part of curry club
I’ll be honest, it didn’t get off to the best start as we waited almost an hour for our table, which definitely put a dampener on the initial experience 😡
That said, once we were seated and the food arrived, things really turned around.
We shared three starters: seekh kebab, kathi kebab, and mango & chilli fish. Every single one was fantastic. Full of flavour, beautifully cooked, and easily the highlight of the meal.
For mains, we shared the kasundi chicken and the Darjeeling achari, served with garlic coriander naan and spring onion rice. Both curries were rich, well-balanced, and packed with flavour 😋
Despite the long wait at the beginning, the food itself really impressed me and was well worth it in the end. If table management can be tightened up, Zoya would be a solid go-to for quality Indian food in the area.
La Cantina 44 is a gorgeous local Italian with a genuinely friendly, family feel. The kind of place that instantly makes you feel welcome 🤗

Nick and I shared three starters to begin: chicken pâté, breaded mozzarella and goat’s cheese stuffed peppers. The standout for me was definitely the goat’s cheese stuffed peppers. I adore goats cheese and this was incredibly fresh, full of flavour, and absolutely delicious 😋
For mains, I had the chicken in a spicy tomato sauce which was rich, comforting and packed with flavour. Nick chose the pork in a creamy mushroom sauce, which was perfectly cooked and indulgent without being too heavy. We also shared sides of potatoes and mixed vegetables.
A lovely evening with fantastic food and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. A real gem to have locally 🇮🇹
If you love La Cantina 44, you’re going to be very excited about their new venture, Pintxos 44. Owned by the same team who have kept La Cantina thriving for over 30 years, this new Spanish tapas restaurant brings a fresh, modern twist while keeping that warm, family run charm everyone loves.
The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with a stylish yet cosy feel from the moment you walk in. There’s seating both upstairs and downstairs, so there’s plenty of room even at busy times. The upstairs area has its own bar too, making it the perfect spot to hire out for parties, celebrations or large groups.
Now onto the food… and wow.
Pintxos 44 recommend around 2–3 tapas dishes per person, but Mum and I decided to share eight between us. Mum just took any leftovers home for my dad thanks to the generous portion sizes!
Every single dish was delicious, but a few absolutely stole the show:
• Peri Peri Chicken – tender, spicy and full of flavour.
• Garlic Prawns – rich, buttery and perfectly cooked.
• Goats Cheese & Parma Ham Salad – fresh, salty-sweet and surprisingly addictive.
To drink, we shared a jug of rosé sangria, which was the ideal refreshing pairing with all the food.
Overall, Pintxos 44 is a fantastic addition to the local food scene with a great atmosphere, wonderful staff, generous portions and food that leaves you planning your next visit before you’ve even left.
If you love tapas, this place is a must try 😋
A couple of weeks ago I finally visited Giggling Squid with my mum for the first time since it opened and it completely exceeded my expectations 😍
We ordered a mix of small plates and larger dishes to share, including chicken satay, hawker pork skewers, Tall Husband’s Favourite (salmon), marinated steak with crispy slow-cooked beef and the lamb shank massaman with rice 😋
I have to admit, the pork skewers weren’t for me. They were a little tough, bland and honestly a bit boring. I’ve also had better chicken satay elsewhere 🫣
But everything else was absolutely stunning. The larger plates in particular were exceptional, packed with flavour and cooked perfectly. I’d go back for those in a heartbeat 🤩
We also couldn’t resist trying a few desserts and shared them around the table. We ordered the pandan tres leches, melting heart chocolate cake, caramelised mango cake and the salted caramel soufflé.
My favourite by far was the pandan tres leches. The sweet milk soaked sponge was moreish, light, super moist and the perfect way to finish the meal 🤍
On Friday night we stayed local for a delicious dinner at and it did not disappoint 😍
We treated ourselves to three courses and I couldn’t believe we were in and out within 70 minutes… which I absolutely love. Quick service without feeling rushed is always a win 👏🏻
As usual, we shared three starters: pacanga boregi, salmon tartare, and feta pane. All three were lovely and a little different to what we’d normally order, but I’d happily have every single one again
For mains, Nick went for the mixed grill, which came with lamb chops, chicken, beef and inegol köfte (a beef and lamb mince). Naturally, I had to steal one of his lamb chops and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavour🤩
I had the lamb kleftiko, served with mashed potatoes and a Mediterranean vegetable stew. So tender and comforting, it really hit the spot.
To finish, we were tempted by the pistachio tiramisu, which was super creamy and the perfect end to the meal.
All in all, a gorgeous local meal with great service, great flavours and zero faff which is just how a Friday night should be 🥰
Introducing a Hollywood Christmas 🎄
Six by Nico’s festive Hollywood Christmas theme has to be one of my favourite menus they’ve ever launched. It’s creative, playful and uses so many interesting ingredients that you don’t often see on their standard menus.
From start to finish, this menu felt like a little cinematic journey, with each dish inspired by a classic Christmas moment.

experiences I’ve had. If you’re looking for something that feels truly special this Christmas, this is the one. 🎄✨
Last weekend we finally made it to to use the voucher my grandparents gave us for Christmas ❤️
We were absolutely starving, so we ordered three starters to share. I went for the lamb cutlets for my main, while Nick had the ribeye steak.
I have to say, the mozzarella en carozza was a bit of a letdown. The sauce tasted like Heinz tomato soup, and the coating wasn’t as crisp as I’d expected. The pâté, on the other hand, was probably my favourite of the three 😍
The lamb was incredible; thick, perfectly cooked cutlets in a rich, flavourful sauce. We added sautéed spinach and the potatoes with shallots and pancetta on the side, and both were absolutely delicious.
PR/INVITE
On Wednesday my mum and I attended for a delicious Keralan feast 😍
Uyare is situated on the top floor of Victoria Gate. The decor in both the restaurant and bar is absolutely stunning and you can experience amazing views of Leeds from their rooftop terrace ☀️
They offer a selection of cocktails based around the 4 elements fire, air, earth and water 🍹

The food was all absolutely incredible but my stand out dish was the seabass, it paired so beautifully with the coconut flavours! 🐟 🥥
The paratha is genuinely the best paratha I’ve ever had, so buttery and flakey and perfect for scooping the curry up with 🤩
I also adored the spicy margaritas 🌶️
The food speaks for itself, it’s totally worth a visit so get booking!!
Happy Sunday 😍
Last week we went for Sunday dinner with some friends at on our way home from a wedding in Scarborough 🎉
It was definitely needed, we’ve not had a good, hearty roast for agesss 😍
We’ve been to The Lime Tree Inn before and it is honestly my favourite roast dinner ever - it’s about 35 minutes from my house but definitely worth the trip
