It’s a bit of a gamble to build a big collection and put everything on the line for an art fair in a tough market… but 27 out of 37 paintings have found homes from my Brisbane collection and I couldn’t be happier and so relieved! THANK YOU TRULY!

For me, it’s flinging open the doors, stepping out onto the balcony, and breathing in that delicious ocean air while I wait for someone to do the very important job of tracking down local fish and chips.

I’m sharing a little bit of my process here too. Colour is at the core of everything I do. I layer and layer using brushes, palette knives, scrapers and cloth, applying paint and pulling it back to reveal the colours beneath. It’s a physical process of accumulation and editing until the surface holds the warmth and texture I’m looking for. I’ve deliberately kept the palette soft for this one, hoping to conjure that feeling of arriving somewhere and exhaling.

A chair invites you in. It makes you feel like you could be there, sitting in that exact spot, looking at that view. That’s why I think people love having them on their walls. Somewhere to escape to..
I also love what chairs do to light. The afternoon shadow thrown across a tiled floor. I play with colour and perspective to shape a moment into the feeling I’m chasing.
And as someone who loves design, a chair places you in a specific moment in time. Different shapes, fabrics, eras, each carrying their own memories.
I start every day sitting in my favourite chair on the verandah. Feet on the ground, listening to the birds.
