At the age of 16 she initiates in art, In 2000 she decides to enter the School of Fine Arts in CR, majoring in Painting and Printmaking in 2007. She is also a Master in Education and has won several national and international art awards.

A childhood spent as a caregiver amidst her mother’s amnesia, forged a profound, alienating feeling of being a ‘stranger in her own home’. This emotional isolation is distilled into haunting portraits of distant children, who occupy a liminal space between realism and dense, textured surfaces.
Ruiz’s work invites the reader into this subconscious, otherworldly realm: “My characters are envisioned as part of an inner, surreal world that is at times wild and unknown, a place filled with imaginary, strange creatures and disconnected objects.”
Using distortion and texture, she visualises the duality of being simultaneously seen and invisible. Her critically acclaimed work exhibited at venues like the MEAM in Barcelona and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Ruiz won Best Oversea Artist, Women in Art Prize 2024.
Ruiz’s art is a resilient act of transformation. It functions not as a passive canvas, but as an active aperture into the subconscious, mapping the beautiful, terrifying terrain where memory is both lost and ultimately reclaimed.
