Snow Peak staff member Chisa Hasegawa found a new rhythm during long days at home, stepping out onto her apartment balcony for slow, quiet mornings that helped ease the heaviness of indoor life. “Once, when I opened the window for ventilation, the wind came in, and when I went out to the balcony, I could smell the outside,” she says. “I realized I could really refresh myself, so why not make this a space to change my mood?” What began as a small act, (stretching, breathing deeply, watering plants), became a ritual of reconnecting with nature, even just a step away from home.
Over time, her balcony became a shared sanctuary for her and her husband. Weekdays rarely offered a chance to talk, so these holiday brunches turned into slow, meaningful moments together. They prepared meals side by side, shared updates from the week, and later enjoyed evening drinks under the soft glow of LED lanterns.
Even in the center of the city, she discovered that “the window is the boundary with nature.” The warmth of the air, the changing light, the plants on the veranda, all being small cues that remind us nature is always closer than we think. With a little intention, home can become a place to feel the sky, the breeze, and the quiet presence of the outdoors, every day.
