Comment “AMIGO” if your ready to move to Spain ✈️🇪🇸

The visa process 😅

If you’re in the process of moving to Spain right now… there’s a very high chance you’re somewhere in these 7 stages 😂✈️

1. “WE’RE DOING THIS!!!”
2. “Why is the visa process so frustrating?”
3. “Wait… are we actually making the right decision?”
4. “WE GOT THE VISA 😭”
5. Living surrounded by boxes for weeks on end
6. Saying goodbye to everyone you love
7. Landing in Spain wondering how this is real life 🇪🇸

Honestly, moving to Spain was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. But oh my goodness…it was also one of the hardest things we’ve ever done together.

Especially the visa process.

The waiting.
The uncertainty.
The googling.
Having absolutely NO idea if you’re even doing things in the right order 😅

And looking back, one of the biggest things missing for us was having people around us who actually understood what we were going through.

That’s exactly why we created Mr. Amigo 🧡

Make your move to Spain way easier… and a whole lot more fun.

Mr. Amigo is a trusted community where experts help you figure out visas, healthcare, taxes, housing, and every step of moving to Spain.

At the same time, you start building real connection and friendships with Spanish locals, expats, and future amigos before you even get to Spain 🇪🇸

We’re Jess & Eric, U.S. Americans who moved to Spain from Kansas in 2021 with no idea what we were doing. We built Mr. Amigo to make moving to Spain way easier… and a whole lot more fun, with the right answers and the right people from day one. 🧡

moving to spain, moving to spain from the us, life in spain, americans moving to spain, mr.amigo
La Rioja, Spain 🇪🇸

Sometimes it still blows my mind that we live here.

• The beautiful vineyards 🍷
• The music echoing through the streets
• The long nights on Calle Laurel
• The tiny villages
• The church bells
• The fire celebrations during San Juan 🔥
• The wine battles 🍷
• The concerts in the plazas
• The café culture ☕️
• The slow afternoons

Living in La Rioja, Spain 🇪🇸 has completely changed the way we look at life.

And honestly…

before moving from the U.S. 🇺🇸 to Spain 🇪🇸, we had NO idea places like this even existed.

Most people think of Madrid.
Barcelona.
Maybe Sevilla or Valencia.

But northern Spain 🇪🇸, especially La Rioja wine country 🍷, feels like a completely different world in the best way possible.

This region is full of traditions, community, history, wine culture, music, festivals, and some of the most beautiful small towns in Spain 🇪🇸

Have you ever been to La Rioja? 🍷🇪🇸

Comment “WIN” if you want to move to Spain 🇪🇸.

We built Mr. Amigo to help people move to Spain… but more importantly, to help people feel like they belong even before they get here. 🧡

Because honestly? I don’t think your life in Spain has to start the day you land here.

I think it can start now.

And today just felt really special.

🎉 One member submitted all of their paperwork to BLS for their non-lucrative visa
🎉 Another member woke up to a visa approval
🎉 Two members living in Barcelona connected through the community today
🎉 And we recently had our first in-person meetup

Watching people support each other, celebrate wins together, and build real friendships through this community has been one of the coolest parts of this entire journey.

Because moving to Spain isn’t just about visas and paperwork. It’s about building a whole new life here — and having people around you who truly get what that feels like.
One thing I never realized until moving to Spain… 🇪🇸

Hotels here almost NEVER have ice machines 😅

Back in the U.S. 🇺🇸, especially growing up in Kansas, every hotel seemed to have:
✔️ An ice machine down the hall
✔️ An ice bucket in the room

But after almost 5 years living in Spain and staying in hotels all over the country, I honestly can’t remember seeing a single hotel ice machine here.

Yes… U.S. Americans are absolutely obsessed with ice 🧊🤣

Now I’m curious…

What’s something that’s super common in the U.S. but hard to find in Spain?
Or vice versa?
.
We’re Jess + Eric, a U.S. American family living in La Rioja 🇪🇸 sharing the little cultural differences that make life here so interesting and fun!
I think one of the biggest things Spain 🇪🇸 has taught us is that community isn’t just about having a few close friends.

It’s about feeling connected to everyday life around you.

It’s the familiar faces.
The tiny conversations.
The people who slowly start becoming part of your daily rhythm.

And honestly… I don’t think I realized how much humans truly NEED that until we moved here.

Because before Spain, community sometimes felt like something you had to constantly search for or “earn.”

But here in Spain, it feels woven into everyday life in a way that changed us forever.

And when you’re moving abroad, that feeling matters even more.

Because yes — visas, healthcare, taxes, housing, paperwork… those things matter.

But what people are REALLY looking for most of the time is belonging.

People.
Connection.
A feeling of home. 🧡

That’s a huge reason we built Mr. Amigo.

Not just to help people move to Spain… but to help people start building a life and community here BEFORE they move.

If this resonates with you, comment “DOOR” and we’ll send you more info about joining our community 🇪🇸🧡

La Rioja, Spain, travel Spain, life abroad, American in Spain.
There are always going to be “What if’s.”

Especially when you’re thinking about doing something as big as moving from the U.S. 🇺🇸 to Spain 🇪🇸

What if our visa gets denied?
What if we regret selling everything?
What if we miss home?
What if we don’t make friends?
What if I never learn Spanish?
What if this whole thing doesn’t work out?

Those thoughts showed up constantly before we moved to Spain.

And honestly… some of them still do sometimes.

But somewhere along the way, I started asking different questions too.

What if it all works out?
What if Spain actually feels like home?
What if we meet people who change our lives?
What if this move becomes the best decision we ever made?

Because the truth is…

Moving abroad isn’t just about visas, paperwork, or logistics.

It changes you.

And I think the younger version of me would be absolutely blown away knowing we actually did it. ❤️🇪🇸

That we really moved across the world.
That we built a life in Spain.
That this stopped being a dream someday and became real life.

That’s a huge reason we created Mr. Amigo.

Not just to help people move to Spain…
but to help people through the “What if’s” too.

Because everyone building a different life has them.

Comment “WHAT IF” if you’re ready to move to Spain. 🇪🇸

Secret 🤫 project announced ⬇️ 🎉
.
The hardest part of moving abroad wasn’t the logistics — it was the loneliness.
.
If you’re dreaming about Spain…
in the middle of the move…
or already here wondering when it will finally feel like home —
we see you.
.
When we moved from the U.S. to Spain, we thought the hardest part would be the paperwork.
But what surprised us most was how isolating it could feel — before, during, and even after we arrived.
.
We were living in Spain but not yet part of Spain.
.
Everything changed when we were welcomed in by our Spanish friends and met other English speakers here that we genuinely connected with.
.
That mix…locals and people who shared our experience —
is what finally made Spain feel like home.
.
And that’s the part of this journey we don’t talk about enough.
.
Because moving abroad isn’t just practical — it’s emotional.
And no one should have to navigate that alone.
.
So we created what we wish we had:
✨ connection with others who share the same dream
✨ trusted experts to guide you through the move
✨ support from Spanish locals who help you integrate and truly belong
.
This is where moving turns into belonging.
