Pixapresso handled this trip quite well, battery life is impressive and it lasted 4 x full heat up + pull shot from a single charge. If you pair that with hot water it will last for many more shots which I’ll be doing next time as well 😊
But there’s no issue with charging that in the car while you traveling in between places. Definitely highly recommend for a road trips 💯

Iced pour over on the 🤤
I actually invested a good amount of time dialing this one in! So I hope you will like it 😌
The second most important ingredient is the ice 🧊 you use, there’s no chance you will get a good tasting flash brew if you use just generic ice from the supermarket! And good coffee is given 🤝🍇 today I’m using Natural anaerobic Pacamara produced at 🧑🌾 and roasted by shared with me through Simon. This coffee is big on flavours and it tastes great in iced pour over 🍓
Good water 💦 = good ice 🧊 = good brew 😊 I used to enhance sweetness and body 🍓 this is a good start.
But to make it taste good you will need to dial in the recipe to make sure coffee is not too strong or not weak to be diluted when the ice melted. The idea is to get at least 1:16 ratio after the ice will melt so I’m using 100 to 120g of ice in the carafe and will aim for the total yield to be 130 ml of brewed coffee 🤝
As a result, you will get perfectly balanced coffee that is going to taste even better if all the ice will melt 🌸😌

I didn’t really rush it but I completed the whole cleaning in uber 15 minutes, usually you don’t have to go that deep because to reach the burrset it actually takes less than a minute! But once in a while it’s cool to take it apart and clean the chute and all the knocker 😊

There’s no standard recipe some people because it’s really depends on what coffee is being used some shops pull 40 ml double ristretto some do 1:1 ristretto. In my opinion 1:1.3 ish works really well and you’d want that to run a bit slower to extract a bit more sweeter cup. Still punchy and “strong” and not watery like double shot.
As per milk it really depends from shop to shop but a standard one is 120ml of milk. Why 3/4 full? 😅 people in Melbourne love milk but some just want really “strong” milky with less milk, pretty much like flat white with higher flavour intensity. Do I like it? Sure do! Primarily because at home wile tend to drink double shot at one go and sometimes full two shots has too much caffeine, this way the puck is a bit under extracted and you get more intensity with a bit less caffeine! Perfect combo! 🤗💥
I used full cream milk, it’s super sweet and in my opinion one of the best milks in Victoria 🙌🏻

Brewing Wilder Lasso Geisha with my friend 😍 we brewed quite a few coffees in there but this one honestly stood out. One of my favourite coffees and I’m lucky to share it with my friend out in the nature 🙌🏻 It’s now very well rested ( around 6 months off roast) but still taste super vibrant and clean with lots of stone fruits and botanical aroma 🌸 like orange blossom 😌
Having a good laugh is essential for a cold day outdoors brew😂 and we followed the instruction with Taylor ✅

A few words about the Millab 01 well known as a pineapple burr grinder 🙌🏻
In short it’s well worth it, some of the coffees I had with it tasted the best of it’s representation. No “hollow” brews been detected as some people mentioned. There no grinder that will fit it all but this one ticks many boxes. Personally I love it in higher extraction brews (4-5 pours) since it doesn’t produce much fines. You can try and extract more in coarser grind size. I personally prefer it at 8-8.5 and it delivers yummy brews. It also great for espresso ☕️ I had some nice full bodied espresso with it with good balance of sweetness and flavor intensity.
👉🏻 side by side with EK 43 it tasted better in medium roast espresso blend 🤗 👈🏻
I’m catching some hollow brews in the coarsest grind size at 10, but only in washed coffees, in more soluble it gives me great flavour separation just a bit less sweetness ( as expected)
Like I said there is no grinder that fits it all, depending where you at now I could recommend this as a great upgrade to some of the grinders like comandante C40 or 1Zpresso lower tier grinders. If you’re with ZP6 or K-ultra you should be fine ( this one is much more enjoyable to grind for espresso than K-Ultra though)
This one is quite a big boy, it’s heavy but built super high quality, everything looks and feels top tier. If you have smaller palm ✋🏻 hand you might have some difficulty to hold it while grinding ( at least with wooden finish)

With and some chilling ball magic 🔮 surprisingly it works great with 9B, I pulled around 6 shots today to test it. Mostly light medium roast works amazing, washed Ethiopian 🇪🇹 it was amazing, and surely great to combine with some tonic and ice 🤤
