The final phase of the West Garfield Park Community Plaza & Roller Rink has officially opened, transforming an underutilized site into a dynamic gathering space for youth, teens, and the surrounding community. The new plaza features a stage, seating areas, play spaces, hang out corners, and public art instillations surrounding the roller rink as part of the Mayor's neighborhood Activation Initiative.
Thank you to the community, our project team, and everyone who helped bring this vibrant space to life.

It was great getting to see the range of growing processes from their seed storage space to their field-grown specimens. We loved seeing some of the innovations they are using, such as self-root-pruning containers and grow bags.
Thank you again for spending the day with our team and showcasing your amazing plants!🌳🌱
Rob Reuland and Mark Jirik recently traveled to project sites in coastal Georgia as part of ongoing work in the region. Check out a new friend they made at the end. 😉🐊

+ What led you to Site or this career track?
I’ve always been interested in how the public realm shapes people’s everyday lives in cities. When I was looking for a place to work, I was drawn to the community-grounded work in Chicago and how deeply rooted the office is in the city. I was lucky to start here as an intern and continue full-time after finishing my master's studies.
+ What has been your favorite work moment since joining the firm?
All the community engagement events I’ve been part of. Hearing directly from people about their experiences in their communities is enriching. There’s always something new to learn from it.
+ What projects are you currently involved in, and what excites you most about them?
I’m currently working on two projects with the Chicago Department of Planning and Development, focused on studying and proposing a vision and implementation framework for urban-scale improvements along the city's southwest and northwest corridors. I joined right as these projects were kicking off, so it’s been exciting to be part of all the phases and start to see where these areas could go.
+ What is your favorite outdoor space, and why?
In Chicago, definitely the Riverwalk. I love how much it changes through the seasons: from being super active and vibrant in the summer to being quieter and covered in snow. Also, special shoutout to Riverwalk East, designed by Site Design Group.
+ What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?
Photography is my favorite hobby, but lately, I'm inspired by the "make group" in the office. I’ve also been getting into pottery. I’ve been playing with clay and glazing at a local studio in Chicago, and I absolutely love it.
+ What is your favorite travel destination or dream trip?
Going back to visit Peru will always be my favorite trip.
This milestone marks the beginning of a vibrant community-focused destination that will serve as a welcoming gathering space for Glen Ellyn's residents, commuters, visitors, and Prairie Path users. Designed to support connection, activity, and year-round programming, the park will serve as a dynamic civic hub in the heart of downtown.
Congratulations to the entire project team on this exciting step! Glen Ellyn Park District, V3 Companies ), ACGI, and EP Doyle & Son, LLC

Known for their sunny blooms and trumpet shaped centers, daffodil's brighten landscapes with bold color and timeless charm. These resilient flowers return year after year, making them a favorite for gardens, parks, and streetscapes.
✨Fun Facts:
+ There are over 32,000 cultivars (cultivated varieties) of daffodils!
+ In the right conditions, daffodil bulbs naturalize, meaning they multiply and return year after year.
+ Daffodils are beneficial for pollinators like bees, providing an early source of nectar in the spring.
🌱 Go check out the daffodil's at Ping Tom Memorial Park, The Park at Lakeshore East, and the Wentworth and Wells Connector!
