取材を受けたのは、コンビニも自販機もない、誘惑から隔たった土地に構えたアトリエで毎月行っている制作合宿の最中でした。合宿では２０００回「左払い」を書くことから始め、集中力を極限まで高め、朝から夜までひたすら筆と向き合います。そうして生まれた「書」には、飾るだけでその言葉の恩恵があふれ、お持ちくださる方の人生をその言葉のように導く力が宿ると信じています。

紫舟作品「祈一心」は～
平安時代、春日大社の正預・中臣信清の嫡男である信近が、蛇目丁と呼ばれる一週間で命を落とす病に侵されました。信清が春日の神に救いを願うと、「前世の業のため神の力は及ばない」「長谷寺へ参り、祈りなさい」との神託とともに、一枝の榊を授かります。信清が長谷寺観音堂にて、その榊を供え一心に祈ると、一羽のカラスが現れ、榊をくわえ飛び去りました。同じ頃、病床の信近のもとにカラスが現れ、患部から蛇を摘み出して飛び去り、1時間後に病は平癒したそうです。のちに信近は立身出世を遂げ、喜んだ父・信清は、その恩に報いるため、十日間で長谷寺の登廊を建立したといわれています。
「祈一心」は、一心に祈る伝説に着想を得て制作しました。
また「わらしべ長者」＝観音様のお告げで人生が幸運に導かれる現世御利益の伝説でも長谷観音様は有名です。
