I moved here to take part in the Visual Development Level 1 Masterâs program at.
As you guys know, art has always been a passion of mine. Over the last few years, Iâve felt a growing desire to do something for myself outside of the waterâto step out of my comfort zone once again. I wanted to work on my craft and develop my artistic skills in a more academic way, something that Iâve never done before.
And thatâs why I moved to Rome.
During some of the hardest months of my life, IDEA helped me take my mind off those difficult moments. I was lucky enough to be part of a great class, full of talented and fun people. I also had some of the best teachers around.
I learned so much and felt incredibly motivated to keep exploring and growing.
It feels surreal to be done already.
My time here really flew by.
I know that the end of this year is just the beginning of a deeper artistic journey for me.
I still have a lot to learn, but when I look back at where I was a year ago, Iâm happy.
Iâve come a long way.
Thanks to everyone that helped me during this journey.
Ricordo che ero cosĂŹ emozionato nel chiedertela che mi tremavano le gambe.
Finalmente avevo incontrato e scambiato due chiacchiere con uno dei miei idoli.
Molto prima che entrassi a far parte del movimento paralimpico infatti sapevo giĂ di Alex e delle sue gesta. Specialmente delle sue vittorie di Londra 2012.
Mi ricordo che da piccolo disegnai un poster che lo raffigurava mentre sollevava la sua handbike (poster che appesi orgogliosamente in cameretta).
Questo era Alex. Una persona in grado di fare entrare nelle case degli italiani un mondo che fino a qualche anno prima raramente era visto dai non addetti ai lavori.
Oggi spesso si parla di âauraâ quando si vuole indicare una persona particolarmente carismatica.
Ecco Alex di aura ne aveva da vendere.
Mi ricordo anche poco dopo di una sua intervista dove mi citava tra gli atleti paralimpici da tenere sottocchio. Potete solo immaginare quanto mi fossi emozionato nel leggerla. Un onore che conservo tuttora dentro di me.
Oggi abbiamo perso un gigante del nostro paese. Un gigante dello sport italiano.
