つゆ玉の付け方はあとでリールをアップします。
これが意外に難しかった。
接着剤は普通の瞬間接着剤を使ってます。
少しはみ出るくらいに接着剤をいれてから、つゆ玉を置くのですが、はみ出した部分を拭うのはシンナー。
ここを手早くしないと綺麗にできません。
まだ、修練が必要な模様。
つゆ玉バージョンは自分で試験的に使ってみます。
接着部分が小さいので、耐久性に心配があるからです。
もし問題がないようなら商品として販売するかもしれません。
This is the “Tsuyudama” version of the black lacquered chopsticks.
I’ll upload a video later showing how to attach the Tsuyudama.
This turned out to be surprisingly difficult.
I’m using regular super glue.
I apply enough glue so that it oozes out a little, then place the Tsuyudama on top, but I use paint thinner to wipe away the excess.
If you don’t work quickly here, you won’t get a clean finish.
It seems I still need some practice.
I’ll try out the “Tsuyudama” version myself on a trial basis.
This is because the adhesive area is small, so I’m concerned about its durability.
If there are no issues, I might sell it as a product.

生漆での拭き漆が木地固めを含めて3回。
目擦り漆もしてます。
艶々にできました。
材料は朴の木です。
My iron-dyed chopsticks with one coat of black lacquer and silver-wire inlay are complete!
I applied three coats of raw lacquer, including the base coat to strengthen the wood.
Also apply Sabi urushi.
They turned out beautifully glossy.
They’re made from magnolia wood.

湿るので乾かしてから、生漆を塗ります。
次に黒漆を重ねます。動画はここまで。
その後2回ほど生漆を重ねると艶がでます。

This is a reply to a comment on my previous post.
Before applying lacquer, I dye the surface with iron solution.
Since it gets wet, I let it dry before applying raw lacquer.
Next, I apply a coat of black lacquer. That’s where the video ends.
After that, applying two more coats of raw lacquer brings out the gloss.
In the previous post, I applied one coat of Sabi Urushi as a sealer.
This makes the surface smooth and durable.

内側はサビ付けした後で2回拭き漆。
サビ付けすると滑らかになるの、好きなんですよね。
自宅用で使っているお椀も丈夫なので手間だけどこのやり方にしています。
The outside is currently in the middle of the standard wiped-urushi process.
The inside has been coated with SabiUrushi, followed by two coats of wiped urushi.
(One more coat of wiped urushi to go.)
I really like how smooth it gets when I do this.
The bowls I use at home are sturdy, so even though it’s a bit of a hassle, I stick to this method.

今回は特別な状況だったので、はっきりと差が出ました。(後述)
私が作品で行っているサビ漆付けはこのように木目の小さな「穴」を埋めるものです。木目を完全に消すものではありません。
それをするのは多くの工程が必要です。これらは数年かけて学ぶことなので、こちらで簡単に質問されても答えられません。
状況:
1.サビ漆+生漆の拭き漆をして完成間近だった。
2.黒くしたくなったので、サンドペーパーで漆層をオフした。
3.鉄染め＋黒漆×2回したら、木目の穴が見えてきた。(原因はサンドペーパーをかけすぎ)
Here’s an easy-to-understand comparison of applying Sabi lacquer.
Since this was a special situation, the difference was very clear. (See below.)
The Sabi lacquer I use is designed to fill the small “pores” in the wood grain, as shown here. It does not completely erase the wood grain.
Doing that requires many steps. It takes several years to learn, so I can’t answer simple questions about it here.
Situation:
1. I had applied Sabi lacquer and raw lacquer using the “wiping” technique, and the piece was nearly finished.
2. I wanted to make it black, so I sanded down the lacquer layer with sandpaper.
3. After applying iron dye and two coats of black lacquer, the “holes” in the wood grain became visible. (The cause was sanding too much.)

私のお椀は内側に必ず目止めのサビ漆をつけます。
お椀にサビ漆をつけるついでに箸にもつけました。
箸は初めて作っているので、目止めが必要なのかわからないけど、大した手間では無いので念のためつけておきました。多分、悪いことでは無いと思う。
ちなみに、これの前にサンドペーパーをかけて表面を滑らかにしてあります。
ちなみに、サビ漆は毎回少しずつ残るのでサランラップに包んで冷蔵庫で保存してあります。
少し硬くなるので、生漆を加えて柔らかくしてから使います。
木ヘラを使うのは下手くそなので、塗布にはシリコンヘラを使いました。これなら下手でも木地を傷める心配はありません。

I always apply Sabi lacquer to the inside of my bowls to seal them.
While I was applying Sabi lacquer to the bowl, I went ahead and applied some to the chopsticks as well.
Since this is the first time I’ve made chopsticks, I’m not sure if sealing them is necessary, but since it doesn’t take much effort, I applied it just to be safe. I don’t think it can do any harm.
By the way, I sanded it with sandpaper beforehand.
By the way, I always have a little Sabi lacquer left over, so I wrap it in plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator.
It hardens a bit, so I add raw lacquer to soften it before using it.
I’m terrible at using a lacquer wooden spatula, so I used a silicone spatula for applying the lacquer. This way, even if I’m clumsy, I don’t have to worry about damaging the wood.

桂造盛器「牡丹」 (2025)
直径φ40.5センチ、高さ13センチ
銀線象嵌をするためには適切な道具が必要です。
溝をつける刃物、
銀線を叩き込むハンマー、
そして、銀線をウネウネに曲げる歯車
それらがジャストの形の時に、綺麗に作れます。
銀線象嵌の1番のハードルは道具作りなのです。
私の道具は自作です。
0.32ミリのワイヤーにちょうど合うように、刃物の厚みと歯車の噛み合わせを調整しました。
ワイヤーウネウネ機は、ホームセンターでほとんどの部品を調達しました。歯車と銅テープは通販です。
歯車の軸を通す壁面の穴はボール盤で開けました。
位置の微調整はヤスリと銅テープで行ってます。
銅テープは電子工作用の部品です。
研修所の先生の道具は、数十年も昔に金物屋さんに特注で作ってもらったそうです。
もう廃業していて、オーダーすることもできないので私は自分で作りました。
要は金属をウネウネできればいいのですから、構造はシンプルですし。
専用のハンマーは両端を丸くしてあります。
丸さは、左右でアールを変えてあります。
使い方は2つ前の動画で。
Tools for silver inlaying
Appropriate tools are required for silver wire inlaying.
A blade to groove
A hammer that strikes the silver wire
And the gear that bends the silver wire.
When they are in just the right shape, they can be made beautifully.
The biggest hurdle in silver wire inlaying is making the tools.
I make my own tools.
The blade thickness and gear engagement were adjusted to fit the 0.32 mm wire just right.
Most of the parts for the wire bender were procured at a home improvement store.Only the gears are mail-order.
The holes in the wall through which the shafts of the gears pass were drilled with a drilling machine.
Fine adjustment of the position is done with a file and copper tape.
Copper tape is an electronic component.
The school teacher's tools were custom ordered from a hardware store decades ago.
I made it myself because it was already gone and could not be ordered.
The structure is simple, since all you have to do is to bend the metal.
The special hammers are rounded at both ends.
The roundness is different on the left and right sides.
