When we found out we were having a girl I told my wife I’m scared; I’ve always been around boys, went to a boys school and am a disciplinarian so may come across as harsh so worry about her growing up with us not on the same page. My wife reassured me to be with her exactly like I would with a boy and here we are!
My daughter’s morning routine is to jump on me, stroke my face then pull my beard to wake me up. We wash and dry our faces, brush our teeth then go down for breakfast before a quick fight changing her nappy and clothes then dropping her to nursery.
The next 8 hours at work are spent constantly checking my phone for updates from nursery or looking back through her newborn photos. She has a little cry when I pick her up then sings with me on the walk home, fights while I pack the pram and dances during snacks in the kitchen before mum comes home.
Best pals: we fight, cuddle, argue, cuddle some more, eat together, listen to HipHop, pray and maybe one more fight.
In all this I’ve realised one thing.. Boys would have been much easier!
