The shop is officially closed and I'm feeling so much sadness. Vía Raíz was such a part of me and losing it brings about deep emotions. Just like in life, when we lose someone we love, there's a feeling of regret. A feeling that I failed it. That I could have done more. I feel like I'm saying good-bye too early before it truly flourished. Juliette was born at the height of the pandemic and with that came more challenging times than normal. With no friends and family coming to visit, the isolation was even more intense. All the plans I had for the business while I took maternity leave went out the window. Business as usual was gone. I watched my business failing, as it faced a global pandemic, feeling powerless with no support at home or work.

Vía Raíz was my first baby and it was a heartbreaking choice to decide to put it on the back burner to focus on my daughter. My situation just didn't allow me to be able to focus on Vía Raíz, especially not with the level of dedication and passion I was able to give it before.

If asked today, I don't know what the future holds for Vía Raíz. For now, my time and attention is my daughter's. Businesses big and small continue to pivot and find creative ways to continue to connect with their audience and meet their needs. As I move forward, I ask myself the question of what more Vía Raíz can be?
