May 4th is a day of Remembrance. Commemorating WW2 (āDodenherderkingā) in the Netherlands and Cassinga Day in Namibia.
While we commemorate some, we structurally forget others - as is so painfully clear today.
Despite this, I continue to be inspired by stories of solidarity, across borders, across cultures. How people connected and have stood up for a better world no matter what. There are many people āwaking upā, many that have been doing rough, beautiful work - many unsung heroes.
What Iāve learn over the years, singing in tiny gatherings to the largest demonstrations ā using your voice matters. It might be that one thing someone else needed to hear to shift something.
This is to all the forgotten children, all the forgotten people, all forgotten life, those fighting for survival. May We Remember You.
