母校の中学校で配布された｢卒業記念CD｣のジャケットをモチーフに、専業の切り絵作家となった今、約20年ぶりに再構築した切り絵です。
音楽の先生からご指名があり、当時は見よう見まねでCDジャケット用に制作した切り絵でしたが、約20年が経った現在 同じテーマでまた作品をつくることができました。
切り絵作家として活動していることも、当時のあの頃の自分が知ったら驚くだろうなぁ、と思います。

中学生の時は（高校生の時もですが）、美術部に所属していました。
小学3年生の頃から絵を描くことが好きだったからです。
福島にある公立の中学。美術部には何人か画力のある子がいました。
負けず嫌いだった私でしたが、そこで「自分はあまり絵がうまくないんだ」と現実を突きつけられることに。
とはいえ、絵を描くことくらいしか生き残れる手段が無かったので、
点描画やスクラッチアート、水彩、油絵などに挑戦しました。
ですが、描いても描いても終わりがない・・・自分の絵に満足できない・・・と、そこでも悩み続けて毎日鬱々していました。
そこで、小学生のときに教科書で見た「モチモチの木」を思い出し
「あの切り絵なら自分でもつくれるかも！」と、いま考えるとなかなか（いろんな意味で）チャレンジャーなことを思いつきまして、試しに自分で絵を描いて切り絵に挑戦しました。
いま使っているデザインナイフは、そのとき実家で見つけたものです。
1.切り絵には終わりがある。（減らしていく作業。）
2.絵が下手でも、切ったら誤魔化せる。（当時は線にアジが出ると思っていた。）
3.周りの誰もやっていない。
という条件が揃い、そこから切り絵の道へ・・・という流れでした。
当時つくったCDジャケットの切り絵を見直すと、切りたい気持ちだけが前のめりでモチーフの線の表現なんて二の次な印象です。（切れているところもあるし）
ですが、今よりも必死さがあってこれはこれで愛おしいなぁと思います。
2026年2月までに出版社様に刊行いただいた切り絵図案集の一覧です。
