マットの両親はシュリ・K・パタビ・ジョイス師の献身的 な生徒であったため、身近にヨガもある環境で育ち、グル ジがカウアイ島に来たとき、マットは「源流で学ぼう」と 決心し19歳だった彼は、父ドミニクとインドのマイソー ルで6ヶ月過ごし、毎日午前4時半から練習し規律と献身 を学びました。それ以来、マイソールに足を運び、学び続 けています。
両親だけでなく、当時熱心に練習をしていた先人たちから 若いマットが得たものは、私たちの想像を遥かに超える経 験だったことでしょう。
ノルウェーでも、スペインでも、タイでも、バリでも、そ してもちろん日本でも、マットはアシュタンガの指導者と して常に求められています。他に類を見ない経歴から得た智慧と知識を彼は伝えてくれ ています。

On tonight’s AHS update at 9pm, we’re featuring Fukuoka based DJ SHIHO the purplehaze.
The session was recorded at Music & Pub FOOLS GOLD, located at the Yakuin Mutsukado intersection in Fukuoka.
A certified instructor of Indian yoga, SHIHO curated a Vinyl Only mix for AHS titled “Spiritual Grooves,” built around the theme of prayer. Crossing boundaries between jazz, contemporary music, ethno-ambient, and electronic, the mix offers a deeply immersive listening experience. FESTIVAL FRUEZINHO Saturday
KIRANA EASTの創始者Terry Rileyが、同講師のSARA と共に出演します。今回はBuffalo Daughterの大野由美子 さんを迎えてのスペシャルなトリオ編成です。
今年の6月13日は、Terry Rileyの師であるPandit Pran Nathの30回目の命日にあたります。
インドやパキスタンなどの南アジア圏では、スーフィーの聖者の命日をUrs（ウルス）と呼びます。Ursとはアラビア語で「結婚」のこと。聖者の魂が神のもとへ還り、一つとなったことをお祝いする日です。
現在90歳であるTerry Rileyは、本公演からほどなくして91歳の誕生日を迎えます。奇しくも師の命日と重なったこの日、全身全霊で音楽を生きる巨匠の生演奏をぜひご体感ください。

June 13th marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of Terry Riley’s guru, Pandit Pran Nath.
In South Asian traditions — particularly among Sufi communities — the death anniversary of a saint is observed as "Urs". The word comes from Arabic, meaning “wedding”: a celebration of the moment the saint’s soul returns to God and becomes one with the divine.
Terry Riley, now 90 years old, will celebrate his 91st birthday just days after this performance. On this day that so fittingly coincides with his guru’s memorial, please come and experience the music of a master who lives it with every fiber of his being.

3月12日、福岡でアシュタンガヨガのシャラを経営されている秋山紫穂 さんが、テリーさんの弟子として正式にキラーナ・ガラナに入門しました。秋山さんは、KIRANA EASTの発足当初から鎌倉のクラスに足を運ばれ、テリーさんがグループレッスンの指導から退いたあとも、毎月のように福岡から山梨に通い、個人レッスンを受けて来られました。当日は秋山さんのご友人や生徒さんらが見守る中、タンブーラ2台の音を背景に、厳かに儀式が執り行われました。
弟子たちが揃うと、テリーさんはよく「サンガを持つのは、とても大切なことだよ」と仰います。サンガとはインドの言葉で、「僧伽（そうぎゃ）」と訳され、仏教とともに日本にも伝わっています。「僧」の字が入っていることから僧侶のことを指すと思われがちですが、本来は「修行者の集まり」のことを指します。ラーガの学びは単に音楽的技術を向上するだけでなく、心身の調律、人間としての成長をももたらしてくれるもの。ナーダ・ヨーガ（音によるヨーガ）というように、それは音によって人間と自然、そして宇宙の精神を探究していく、求道の道筋でもあります。
私たちは同じ先生から歌を学んでいますが、受け取り方は三者三様。一緒に歌うと、自分では取りこぼしていたニュアンスに気づいたりすることもよくあります。そういった技術向上に資するという点ももちろんありますが、それぞれ人生を賭けてこの道を追求することを誓ったもの同士の集いは、とても心強いものです。
KIRANA EASTでは、Pandit Pran Nathを通じたキラーナ・ガラナのラーガの旋律とともに、Terry Rileyの音楽を後世に伝えるため、さまざまな形式を模索しながら取り組んでいます。そんな中で、新たな弟子が加わったことは、新しい未来を紡ぐ、とても大きな出来事です。
90歳というご高齢にもかかわらず、新たに弟子を取るというご決断をなさったテリーさんと、秋山さんの勇気と信念と献身に、改めて深い敬意を表するとともに、その新たな門出をお祝い申し上げます。ラーガの学びを深め、サンガを広げていくため、弟子同士協力し合いながら成長していく所存です。今後ともKIRANA EASTをよろしくお願いいたします。

3月12日をもって、音楽家Terry Riley氏にインド古典音楽を学ぶ弟子として正式に入門したことをご報告いたします。
テリー.ライリー氏はインド古典音楽の流派キラーナ.ガーラナをグルPandit Pran Nathから継承している数少ない方。この系譜はおよそ700年脈々と口伝で受け継がれ、そして私がこの系譜を受け継ぐ責任のある役割に成る事を意味します。
入門の儀式は伝統に則り行われ、姉弟子、兄弟子 、宮本さん、ラーガ仲間でありアシュタンガヨーガの練習生であるayaさん そして私がラーガ教室に足を踏み入れた最初の場所パラダイスアレイの淳平くんファミリー と、福岡のアシスタント、関東の生徒が遠く忙しい中時間を割いてくださり証人者として立ち会ってくれました。
思えば、テリー.ライリー氏の音楽に出会い無性に惹かれミニマルミュージック、アンビエントのレコードを買い漁っていた10代後半 後にアシュタンガヨーガに出会いインドに長く通う中 祈りを求めてバラナシに行きはじめた3年前
そして、鎌倉でのラーガ教室の存在を知りテリーさんがインド人グルジ パンデット.プラン.ナート氏からインド古典音楽を継承している事を知る...
全てがテリーさんに繋がり、ラーガと言う音を使うヨーガの探求の為に準備されていたとしか思えません。
実は2024年11月のある早朝のこと。
"テリーさんの弟子になりたいと言わなければ"
と目覚めと共に脳裏に言葉が出てきました。
その翌日にAshtanga Yogaの唯一の正式後継者Sharath Jois師は肉体を離れられました。
この流れを受け入れるのにも時間がかかり一年以上私の中に仕舞い込みました。まだまだ消化中ですが、今回の弟子入りはSharath先生のお導きでもある、と私は受け止めています。
人生におけるとても大きな変化を選択し受け入れ音とヨーガの探求に励みますので、どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

Announcement of Discipleship
March 12, I have formally accepted as a disciple of the musician Terry Riley to study Indian classical music.
Terry Riley is one of the very few living musicians who has inherited the Kirana Gharana tradition of Indian classical music directly from his guru, Pandit Pran Nath. This lineage has been passed down orally for approximately 700 years, and my initiation means I now carry the responsibility of continuing this sacred lineage.
All paths converged on Terry. It feels as though everything was preparing me for this pursuit of Yoga through the medium of raga — sound as spiritual practice.
One early morning in November 2024, the words suddenly arose in my mind upon waking:
“I have to tell Terry I want to become his disciple.”
The very next day, Sharath Jois — left his body.
It took me more than a year to fully accept this sequence of events. I kept it inside, still processing it even now. Yet I have come to see this discipleship as being guided by Sharath-ji himself.
I have chosen and embraced a profound turning point in my life. I will devote myself wholeheartedly to the exploration of sound and Yoga.

1週間前からCS60とジュースクレンズをし迎えた夏至の日は素晴らしい体験となったceremony、地元の伝統に従った禊と量子力学・素粒子のお話を聞く伊良部島での慰霊の日、天の川銀河に包まれる新月前の夜、青の世界に浸る新月の日。

こんなに涙した2週間は無い。
ただただ全てが美しく完璧だった。
探し回らずとも既に在りそれを知らせてくれた事に感謝する時間。
