I didnāt even realize I was in postpartum.
It was layered with grief. With the NICU. With trying to show up for my job. With learning how to be a mom while carrying the weight of everything else.
There were days I would cry out of nowhere. Days I wouldnāt sleep. Days I wouldnāt shower. Days I completely neglected myself. Not because I didnāt care, but because survival was taking up all the space.
Postpartum looks different on everyone. And sometimes it doesnāt come alone. Sometimes itās coupled with loss, exhaustion, responsibility, and the pressure to keep going when your body and mind are begging you to rest.
I was taking care of a human being while barely taking care of myself.
And now I can finally say this out loud. I had a postpartum phase. I lived it. I survived it.
And part of me becoming disciplined now is acknowledging that season without shame. Not rushing it. Not minimizing it. Not pretending I was fine when I wasnāt.
Iām giving myself permission to do what I need to do for me. To rebuild. To create structure. To show up in ways that feel aligned, gentle, and sustainable.
Survival was the assignment then. Discipline is the choice now.
