Śrī Sūktam & Oṃ Śrī Mahālakṣmyai Namaḥ
✨
The Veda Studies community is celebrating Dīpāvalī with a 10-day sādhanā to recite the Śrī Sūktam and do an Oṃ Śrī Mahālakṣmyai Namaḥ japa.
✨
The Śrī Sūktam is one of the more popular Vedic hymns. It is used in ritual worship in temples and homes, and is also a daily sādhanā or meditative practice. Reciting this sūktam means tuning into the energy of Lakṣmī, who stands for all that is beautiful, gracious and enriching. We have all experienced higher states of good and noble traits. This prayer calls for divine assistance to stay in those higher states.

Over the past year, this beautiful city has slowly become home. Its lakeside paths, historic streets, and mountain views have provided the backdrop to a new chapter for our family and for
I am delighted to be preparing for our upcoming Mahānārāyaṇa Upaniṣad Immersion in Lugano, Switzerland, from 28 October to 1 November 2026.
The Mahānārāyaṇa Upaniṣad is one of the great treasures of the Kṛṣṇa Yajurveda. Vast in scope, it brings together prayers, contemplations, teachings on Brahman, and some of the most beloved mantras of the tradition.
As I walk these familiar paths, I feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to welcome students here to study together. To share this remarkable text, and to do so in the city I now have the privilege of calling home, feels especially meaningful.
I look forward to welcoming many of you to Lugano this autumn.

This hymn is a source of inspiration for the famous genre of nāmāvalis (name mantras). Even in the Vedas, one does not see a section like Śrī Rudram consisting of many names of the divine along with the word, namaḥ (salutation). The famous five-syllabled mantra Namaśśivāya, is from this great hymn.

The Āditya Hṛdayam was revealed by Sage Agastya to Lord Rāma on the battlefield during the climactic moment of the Yuddha Kāṇḍa of the Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa. The hymn praises the Sun as the visible embodiment of the divine principle that sustains all life. Through a series of evocative names and descriptions, the Sun is revealed as the source of energy, light, intelligence and order in the universe. The practise of reciting this hymn is traditionally understood to dispel fear, sorrow and inner obstacles.
✨
The Āditya Hṛdayam shares an affinity with the Gāyatrī mantra as both hymns direct our attention to the light that illumines our intellect.
✨
This course is open to all levels, and everyone is welcome. However, since it is an intensive programme, it is better to take it after finishing the Foundation Course. You do not need extensive experience in Vedic chanting, but the ability and commitment to work daily on learning texts is essential.
