“We want something elegant and timeless, but simple.”
And we understand exactly what they mean.
But a table like this is not simple.
It is highly intentional.
The beauty of an understated tablescape is that every element has to be considered, because there is no excess to hide behind.
The flowers were not chosen only because they were beautiful. Each bloom was selected for its tone, shape, texture and movement, so the palette could feel soft and natural while still being incredibly precise.
The colour story was built through a movement of shades: cream, ivory, soft blush, muted peach, gentle greens, and then deeper accents of red, wine and burgundy. Each tone needed to connect to the next without feeling forced.
Even the linen was not “just white.”Because white is never just white.
White can be warm, cold, ivory, optical, creamy, chalky, or almost grey. For this table, the base tablecloth had to be the right white, because it needed to match the light chiffon draping layered above it.
And then, the smaller details:
The handmade candles, created in specific colours for the palette.
The fruit, placed with intention.
The sculptural pieces, the glassware, the candlelight, the proportions, the rhythm of the table.
Everything had to feel calm, refined and natural.
But that kind of simplicity is designed before it is seen.
This is what “simple” often really means:
edited, intentional, precise. And when simplicity is done properly, its value is not only in what you see on the table, but in everything that had to happen before it could look this natural.
