Looking up to closely trace the undersides of the lotus lanterns suspended over a Seoul alleyway ahead of Buddha's Birthday.
Yet, what ultimately met my gaze was the immense sky, boundlessly embracing those small lights.
In the fleeting moment I sought to look into the earnest wishes (Form) floating before me, I encountered the distant void (Emptiness) that had silently emptied itself of everything.
A realization that the countless worldly desires and hopes we look up to and chase are, in the end, mere fragments briefly swaying against the backdrop of that empty sky.

Here is a scene from "Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land: The Dance of Brush and Ink," a performance at the 2026 K-Royal Culture Festival that I captured yesterday at Gyeongbokgung Palace.
This stage brings to life, through the movements and choreography of dancers, the idyllic world filled with blooming peach blossoms that Grand Prince Anpyeong, the third son of King Sejong (the figure holding a fan in the video), saw in a strange and wondrous dream.
It depicts the narrative of a national treasure-level masterpiece being completed at the brush tip of An Gyeon, a renowned painter of the Dohwawon.

The masterpiece Mongyudowondo (Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land), inspired by his dream and completed over 600 years ago, is unfortunately currently held in Japan.
Because it carries the historical pain of being a looted cultural asset, the emotions this beautiful artwork evokes in Koreans are highly complex.

The front of Sujeongjeon Hall, where this stage was held, is the former site of Jiphyeonjeon.

I just wanted to drop a quick update about the 'Keep Swimming' event at Cheonggyecheon. Sadly, it officially wrapped up yesterday (Sunday, April 19th). Since today is the 20th, you won't be able to catch the official exhibition anymore.
You know how they completely transformed the place with lights and media art for 'The City' project to celebrate the 'Arirang' comeback. It was seriously so gorgeous every night for the past month. Now that it's actually over, it feels a bit bittersweet and leaves quite a lingering vibe, doesn't it?
