Padahal setelah berinteraksi dengan banyak orang, saya justru menyadari satu hal persoalan halal bukan hanya soal lokasi kita tinggal. Bukan hanya soal Jepang, Eropa, atau negara-negara Barat. Persoalan halal adalah persoalan ilmu, kepedulian, dan ketakwaan.
Di Jepang, karena pilihan halal terbatas, banyak Muslim akhirnya terdorong untuk belajar. Mereka mulai membaca label, memahami bahan tambahan pangan, mengenali istilah-istilah yang asing, dan lebih berhati-hati sebelum membeli sesuatu. Keterbatasan justru membuat mereka lebih sadar.
Sementara di tempat lain, kemudahan terkadang membuat kita lengah. Padahal Allah tidak akan bertanya di mana kita tinggal. Allah tidak akan bertanya apakah kita hidup di Jepang atau Indonesia. Yang akan ditanya adalah sejauh mana usaha kita dalam mencari yang halal dan menjauhi yang haram.
Dan tentu saja, pembahasan halal bukan untuk saling menghakimi. Bukan untuk merasa lebih baik dari orang lain. Sebab setiap orang berada pada fase belajar yang berbeda. Ada yang belum tahu, ada yang baru mulai belajar, ada yang masih berproses memahami.
Mungkin hari ini kita masih banyak kekurangan dalam memahami halal. Mungkin selama ini ada hal-hal yang luput dari perhatian kita. Namun selama masih ada keinginan untuk belajar dan memperbaiki diri, insyaAllah selalu ada jalan menuju yang lebih baik.
Halal adalah bentuk ketaatan.
