First came the rate shock. The Bank of Canada raised interest rates faster than we’ve seen in decades, and overnight the numbers stopped working for many condo investors who were relying on ultra-low borrowing costs.

This year the market has been the hardest that I’ve personally encountered in my 12 years of being in the real estate business. With only 10,000 sales in the entire pre con industry (compared to 30,000 in 2021), generating sales takes three times more work for one third the results. It was all about providing value to my clients to help them navigate rising interest rates, market uncertainty, and all the other variables we’ve seen.
I feel grateful for this year as it really pushed me to think outside of the box, expand the boundaries and really elevate myself to achieve results. The last 5 years, we were in a market where it was too easy to do hundreds of deals a year so this roadblock, while creating a hiccup in our business, allowed us to reset and I’m grateful for that. It means that we will hit the ground running when things do go back to normal
- whether it’s 6 months, 9 months or a year from now. All I can do is prepare myself, elevate, and provide better value than I ever have to retain, grow and accelerate my business.
If you dream big enough and put in the work, anything is possible. There’s no timeline for success. Too often we put limiting beliefs on what we can and can’t accomplish, but reality is anything is possible with determination, high targets and unapologetic commitment to achieving them.
