There is a misconception that Capoeira is only for people who are athletic, acrobatic, strong or brave. However, Capoeira is for everyone, all bodies, all ages, all genders, all ethnicities. The reason is simple: activities such as capoeira, karate, yoga, dance, and other disciplines exist for the health of the mind, body, and spirit. Being "good" and "the best" at any of these activities is simply to practice them for yourself, for your own health, and in your own way. This is my very strong belief because that is exactly how I learn, practice and coach capoeira.
This class is for self-identified women, genderqueer, non-binary, trans folx of all body types and all ages to access the health benefits of capoeira.
We stay grounded that capoeira was developed by Africans enslaved in Brazil as a survival and resistance practice for their health and liberation.
