As we go in to 26 lets do it with a bang and shout about our amazing artists

“I might just be one of SDX’s longest-standing artists.”

Cheryl joined Scottish Design Exchange back in 2015 — right at the beginning — when Lynzi Leroy created something genuinely new: a proper shop where makers could test ideas, learn fast, make mistakes, and grow.
Like most creatives starting out, Cheryl tried ideas that didn’t land, backed products she thought would fly (and didn’t), and learned quickly how to adapt in an ever-changing retail world.

Ten years on, she’s still here — and still evolving.

Originally an ink-pen illustrator, Cheryl now works digitally on her iPad Pro, creating colourful, punchy, joyful Scottish-themed illustrations designed to make people smile. Her work spans greeting cards, candles, chocolates, mugs, and textiles — all unmistakably her.

Through SDX, Cheryl has collaborated with brands including Quirky Chocolate, Born in Scotland, and even designed Fringe Festival merchandise for Borders Biscuits.
But beyond the collaborations, SDX gave Cheryl something priceless: the ability to build a creative business from home while raising her children.

“I feel incredibly grateful to do what I love for a living.”

If you’re a maker, illustrator, or creative thinking about taking that next step — Cheryl’s advice is simple: reach out to SDX.
