I chose something deeply unfamiliar that day and I’m so so glad I stuck with it.
Back then I couldn’t imagine life without alcohol and now I can’t imagine giving up what sobriety has given me 🥹
What a treat not to have the constant negotiation going on in my head on whether I’ll have a drink tonight.
It didn’t fix everything, of course life still does its thing
but it’s the solid, calm foundation that it brings that helps massively 💛

To celebrate Jades birthday this year, we had the cutest little girls’ afternoon in and made our own wreaths using the amazing kits from 🙌
Honestly, these kits were brilliant - they came with everything you need, plus video tutorials and step-by-step printed instructions… not that we needed them because Jade fully took on the role of Creative Director and bossed us about the whole time 😅💁♀️
And because no crafting afternoon is complete without snacks, we went all in: wraps, hot party food, crisps & dips, scones, olives, cupcakes, donut pops, macarons… the works 👌

A little about my story and how Scottish & Sober evolved:
✨I’m 2 years sober
✨I had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol spanning my whole adult life.
✨I used alcohol to escape
✨I used alcohol for everything really
✨Being in lockdown, drinking alone regularly really started my journey to sobriety
✨I was so sick of the repressive cycle
✨I was in therapy and making progress but knew alcohol was holding me back
✨I thought sobriety would be boring, unfulfilling, bland and life would suck without the “pleasure” of a cold glass of wine at night
✨But something kept pulling me back to the idea. Maybe, just maybe, this could be exactly what I needed
✨I followed sober accounts, read endless resources online and flipped my mindset to become really excited about sobriety before getting started
✨On 02/01/21 I took a big, scary leap of faith and that was my day 1.
✨I did the first 100 days with no sober connections, no Instagram page. Just the and a small obsession with my day count 😂
✨Some days were hard, some days were glorious and almost euphoric. I was running a lot which helped keep my endorphins up.
✨I had been so fixated on reaching 100 days that when I reached that milestone I knew I needed accountability.
✨….and so day 100 was born
✨Slowly my confidence in sobriety increased, I made friends and found the sober Instagram community and it changed my experience for the better. It is the most wonderfully supportive space 💛
✨ 631 days since creating this page, almost 10,000 (🤯🙏🏻🥰) of you are joining me for the ride
✨I LOVE shouting about sobriety. Spreading the word about the benefits. Talking about the harsh truths. Sharing my story. Helping others. Entertaining. Showing that sobriety as young(ish) 😂 woman is fun, fulfilling and helps you to achieve your hopes and dreams ODAAT.

In to the big numbers now and I still can’t believe I’ve made it this far.
➡️ Me at 6 days sober - nervous, lost, overwhelmed, not sure of my plan, excited, determined, tired, emotional, puffy and unaware as to just how much life was about to improve 💛
➡️ Me today at 700 days sober - still overwhelmed at times but with so much more patience and focus. Every aspect of my life has improved. Literally everything.
That doesn’t mean it hasn’t been hard graft or that I don’t get fed up or bored with sobriety sometimes and want to escape now and again BUT it only takes me a few minutes of reflection to remember exactly why this is the right path for me.
Sobriety first, always.
Sobriety has brought consistency in to my life and that has made so many other things possible.
Being sober = giving myself a chance to really get to know the real me = giving myself a chance at reaching my potential 🚀 Who doesn’t want that for themselves?
