In a career with School Sport Victoria, and its predecessors, spanning nearly four decades, Kirsteenβs
contribution to a plethora of advancements in school sport has been significant.
When reflecting on her time with School Sport Victoria, Kirsteen noted the pride she felt in the expansion of opportunities provided to Victorian students, increased participation opportunities for girls including in Australian rules football and football (soccer), and the expansion of the SSV interschool multi-class program which is also occurring at School Sport Australia Championships.
The importance of school sport for Kirsteen was always linked to education through sport. Kirsteen said, βI wouldnβt have stayed so long if I didnβt love and know how important it is from an education point of view. Always an educator!β
βKirsteen has made a significant contribution to the delivery of school sport in Victoria," said Rayoni Nelson OLY, School Sports Victoria CEO.
"She showed a strong commitment to achieving student outcomes, including a focus on encouraging participation in sport and on safety and inclusion. Her impact has been seen at local level school sport right through to pathways for students at the national level.β

In the wake of Kirsteenβs retirement, School Sport Victoria has welcomed Jeff Downes as its new Interschool Sport Manager.
School Sport Victoria has also recently and welcomed back Adam Drinkwell, who has rejoined School Sport Victoria as State Teams Manager with Andrew Comley taking up a non-government secondment, welcomed Olivia Bomford and Siuly Hartono to the team as State Team Programs Officer and Finance Officer respectively, after long-serving finance officer Mary Wisby also commenced her retirement after a brilliant career.
