On our last night there, Zen asked how many more days we would be staying. When I told him we were going home the next day he said, “I wish we could stay longer.”
Hearing that made me realize once again how wonderful it is to travel.
Because it reminds you that there’s a place to come home to.
息子といったマカオ旅行。マカオに滞在する最後の夜に、ゼンがあと何日マカオにいるのか聞いてきた。もう明日帰るよと答えると"もっといたいなと"言った。その言葉を聞いてやっぱり旅行はいいものだなと思った。帰る場所があると感じられるから。
처음에는 돌고래를 무서워하던 젠도 함께 시간을 보내면서 점점 돌고래를 만질수있게 되었다.우리 둘에게 오래도록 기억에 남을 소중한 경험이었다.

아이들은 맨발로 학교 정원을 걸어 다녔다.닭을 쫓아다니고 그림을 그리고 나무에 매달린 손수 만든 그네를 타며 시간 가는 줄도몰랐다.
그림책 속으로 들어온 것 같은 기분이었다. 이렇게 아름다운 학교는 처음 봤기때문이다.하지만 하와이의 물가는 상상이상으로 비쌌다.
그래서 숙소에 있는 키친에서 카레를 만들어 3일 동안 먹었다. 숙소에 키친이 있다는 것이 얼마나 고마운지 새삼 느꼈다. 하루에 두번 이상 수영장에 갈때도 있었고 바다에서 놀기도했다. 세탁기를 하루에 세번 돌린 날도 있었다. 세탁기가 있는 것도 정말 큰 도움이 되었다.
젠은 매일 바쁘게 그림을 그렸다. 하와이에서 보고 느끼고 경험한것들을 그림으로 남기는 데 푹빠져 있었다.
하와이에 오길 정말 잘했다는 생각이 들었다. 당분간은 카레를 먹고싶지않지만 젠이 그린 그림 속에는 하와이에서의 소중한 추억이 가득담겨있으니까.
This summer, we went to a summer school in Hawaii.
The children walked barefoot through the school garden, chased chickens, drew pictures, and played on a handmade swing. It felt like stepping into a picture book. I had never seen such a beautiful school.
Hawaii was much more expensive than I expected, so I cooked curry in our accommodation’s kitchen, and we ate it for three days. I was grateful to have both a kitchen and a washing machine.

I’m so glad we came. I don’t want to eat curry for a while, but Zen’s drawings are filled with our memories of Hawaii.
