For this setup, I intentionally placed the entire composition directly in front of the window, allowing the light to come from behind the scene rather than from the front.
This backlighting creates soft, natural shadows that add depth, reveal texture, and give the image a more cinematic feel. Instead of flattening the scene, the light wraps around each element, making the coffee foam, wooden surface, figs, and toast feel more dimensional.

☕ 2. Shadows as Leading Lines The shadows aren't just there to create contrast. They subtly guide your eye toward the cup, acting as invisible leading lines that strengthen the composition.
☕ 3. Creating a Mood By allowing more shadows to remain in the frame, the image feels moodier, warmer, and more cinematic. The empty dark areas aren't wasted space—they help create the atmosphere.
A strong composition isn't only about arranging props. It's about using framing, light, shadows, and negative space to control where the viewer looks first—and how the image makes them feel.
