Over the past few years, life has forced me to slow down. To stop. To reflect. Through grief, heartbreak, and all the feelings that come with a quarter-life crisis, I’ve found a kind of clarity I didn’t know I needed 😅
This is, in a way, a post of gratitude. For the small highlights that exist, even in the darkest moments.
Because the easy path is to give up, lose hope and think that life sucks, yet there is some kind of power in choosing to see things differently.
And no, there’s nothing wrong with romantisizing life. It doesn’t make it any less real.
From this small corner on the internet, I intend to use it with more “purpose” (whatever that really means) from now on, more intentionally. Because, honestly, my favourite days are the ones when I’m offline. The ones filled with slow mornings, getting lost in a book, long walks by the sea, late dinner nights and talks, and the kind of presence you can’t capture on a screen ✨
Navagio Beach (also called “Shipwreck Beach”) lies on the northwest coast of Zakynthos and is famous for its dramatic limestone cliffs, turquoise water and, of course the shipwreck 🌊 The beach got its nickname from a smugglers ship, the MV Panagiotis, which ran aground there in 1980 while allegedly smuggling cigarettes from Turkey to Italy.
⚠️ Important current status & safety notes:
- Truth is that as of 4 years, the beach area of Navagio has restricted access due to cliff-erosion and landslide risk: boats may not dock (only stop for around 15 min to to take pictures) and people are not allowed to swim (the currents are super strong) neither go to the beach itself 😅
- The viewpoint above remains open (weather permitting), but even there you must stay on marked paths - usually this is the best spot for the iconic photos/view.
🛥️ How to get there:
- By boat for the cove: boat tours depart from ports such as Porto Vromi (closest) and Agios Nikolaos (Zakynthos), or from close islands like Kefalonia.
- By land to the viewpoint: you can drive to the viewpoint above Navagio, beware of the narrow roads near the cliffs.
⏱️ Best time to visit: early (before ~10:00 AM) or late afternoon to avoid the busiest crowds and get better light for photos.
Add-ons: many tours combine Navagio with a visit to the Blue Caves nearby where you can easily swim and chill 🙏🏻
🚢 PS: an important detail as well is that currently as you can see in the photos the boat was half removed 😅 many of the photos you see only are not up to date.

…and for a good reason! 🩵 This beach had one of the most insane water colors I’ve ever seen. And with the bright white pebbles and huge cliffs all around, it makes one of the most cinematic settings on the island 🙏🏻
Some tips for when visiting:
- Location: North-west Kefalonia, near Assos.
- Parking: there’s a parking lot at the bottom (limited spots, go early in summer!).
- Best time to visit: early morning or late afternoon (for the best light and chill vibe).
– No natural shade, so bring an umbrella 🏖️
– There’s usually a small beach bar for drinks/snacks 🍉
– Water gets deep quickly, it’s great for swimming but watch your footing.
– Don’t skip the viewpoint stops both on the road up and down. They offer different views of the beach, both of them worth it.
