Sometimes I look at it and it feels like A LOT, but I also remember that for me, experimentation is one of my favorite things about art, that often means more tools and supplies to feed that experimentation.

I’ve been so busy with back to back projects, then baby. I finally have a moment, so I’m officially getting started!
Also, my work bench has turned into a diaper change station, so I now just work from whatever room is free, yes my back hurts 😂

Persistence. So many of them kept going when there was no audience, no sales, little encouragement. They just kept putting work into the world anyway.
A willingness to connect. Networking doesn’t always come naturally, I know for me, I’m a bit of an introvert so it isn’t always the easiest, but I’ve watched it open so many doors giving people a chance to learn an artist’s story and feel something deeper about their work.
Professionalism and business sense. The artists I’ve seen sustain real careers tend to treat their practice like a business, not necessarily in a cold, sharky way, but in a serious way. Whether working with galleries, collectors, or brands, that professionalism seems to be what helps them actually get ahead.
The ability to grow from rejection. Artists hear “no” constantly, passed over for exhibitions, ignored by collectors, criticized publicly. The ones who last don’t seem to quit when that happens. They absorb it and keep moving.
Authenticity. This might be the one that I find the most important. Watching an artist be genuinely themselves, painting from the soul is one of the fastest ways I fall in love with someone’s work.
These are just my observations, not a formula. But I keep seeing these patterns, and I think they’re worth paying attention to. 🙏🏽❤️
