Important reminders: you have free will. You can train anywhere. A bike is a free checked bag. The Czech Republic is the most beautiful place on earth 🇨🇿

I have also now fallen off my bike in multiple countries and can confirm the pavement is just as hard 👍🏼

Crazy looking back a couple years how I used to pack multiple suitcases overflowing with outfits, dresses, sandals, heels, makeup, and enough options for every possible version of myself on a five day trip. Now it’s several weeks with a bike case, one carry-on, and my Garmin charger.

Not saying one way is better than the other. Just funny how priorities change. Somewhere along the way, I traded outfit changes for route changes and my makeup bag didn’t even make it into my luggage. Life gets lighter when you know what experiences you value most 🫶🏼

I’ll say it: marathons don’t scare me nearly as much as 5Ks do 😅

There’s something deeply unsettling about running at 5K effort. The second the race starts, it already feels too fast, and somehow I have to hang on there for 5km/3.1miles

People love to act like if you run a speedy marathon time, your shorter-distance times should line up with the prediction charts. But training is specialization. The demands are different, the systems are different, and every runner responds differently.

Some runners are naturally better at long steady efforts. Others are built for speed and higher-end suffering. Some can lock into marathon pace forever but absolutely dread 5K pace workouts (hi, it’s me 🙋🏻‍♀️).

Fitness doesn’t always transfer perfectly across distances, and the calculators/charts/tables don’t account for individuality. I’m a 3:02 marathoner, 1:27 half marathoner, and haven’t broke 20mins in a 5k in over 3 years (20:15 today).

That being said, next training cycle goal is to incorporate more speed work, get comfortable at harder efforts, and build confidence at faster speeds ✌🏼

Thank you for a great race today!!

Running has taught me not to fixate on individual results and forced me to look at the bigger picture and long term progress.

This was my 11th marathon and my 3rd

I ran a personal best time of 3:02:20, a 6 minute PR and a huge course improvement for me.

I executed my race plan exactly as I wanted, if I could do it all again I wouldn’t do anything differently. This might be the first marathon I truly felt like I got everything out of it that I wanted and that I ran my absolute best and not a second slower.

Each race I learn more about myself and about running this distance. The most important thing I’ve learned 11x later is that the number on the clock isn’t always a reflection of the progress you’ve made. There’s so many factors that contribute to your race result and if you reduce the whole picture down to that one number on the clock it can erase the bigger picture of your progress.

I’ve learned to love looking back on my marathon times and seeing the ups and downs and remembering what was going on in my life personally and in my training. Even without improvements on the clock I was always improving as a runner.

Just like I wouldn’t change anything about this race, I wouldn’t change anything about this journey. Every challenge, every setback, every bad training block, and every failure has made me the runner I am today.

Bringing my son with me to the Boston Marathon Expo wasn’t just about picking up a bib—it was about showing him what’s possible

When I found out I was expecting him during my sophomore year of college at 19 years old, I was told that a lot of doors would close and certain dreams might have to wait, or disappear altogether. But having him didn’t close doors—it gave me a reason to run through them.

I’m not just chasing goals for me anymore. I’m showing him that “impossible” isn’t the end of the story.

This journey isn’t just mine, it’s ours 💙💛

Race prep absolute must 👆🏼You already pre payed for the photo package and you have the extra time during your taper week so go get the tan 🤌🏼

Especially after training through the winter when the legs and arms haven’t seen the sun in months I always book a spray tan before race day ☀️

Normally I don’t like the booths for spray tans, but for races I can usually find a promo for free or super cheap booth spray tans that will give my legs and arms some much needed color. No need to stress if it’s perfectly for race day, just anything but pale 🙃

Look good, feel good, run fast 💪🏼

Firm believer every body is a running body. I have never felt like I was built “like a runner”. I never “looked” the part. It’s taken me years to feel confident enough in myself to firmly own being a runner.

When I started running I would always say “oh I run but I wouldn’t consider myself a runner”. I didn’t feel like I was fast enough, lean enough, or tall enough to really match the description of “a runner”.

This past year has been one of my biggest periods of personal growth as a runner. I finally embraced fueling to perform and stopped fixating on “the runner build”.

I confidently step onto the starting line at the front of the pack rather than being intimidated by the “real runners” in the first corrals and hiding myself in the back.

No matter where you are in your running journey - training for your first 5K, running for fun once a week, or getting ready for your 10th marathon - you’re a runner in my book.

This feeling is everything

10th marathon
2nd overall female

Alongside some speedy fast teammates and outstanding runners from all over the world we conquered (or more accurately *survived*) the hills and fed off the energy of the city and this greater community of crazy people who run a lot 🫶🏼

I’m so in awe of how this sport continues to challenge every ounce of my soul, simultaneously fill me with doubt and confidence, makes me want to quit and keep going every step, and inspire me and surround me with so many outstanding runners from every possible walk of life.

Huge shoutout to the team that supported me and our team this weekend

Thankful for you two 🤍

It’s been a hectic past few months and I couldn’t be more grateful to share it all with my boys. Traveling cross country week to week, starting a new job, celebrating our anniversary and all three of our birthdays within two weeks, Jackson starting new sports, and trying to fit in all the hours of race training.

The busier life gets the faster it seems to fly by but the more I cherish our lazy Sundays on the couch, bedtime stories over video calls, weekly (sometimes bi-weekly and tri-weekly) cheat meals, and all the little moments we find for each other.
I’m not just a marathoner, I’m a Boston Marathoner 💛💙

The challenges of this race truly brought out all the best in me. AND I’m officially Boston Qualified with a finish time of 3:26:08!

The majority of my last 6 week training block I’ve been resting and recovering from an injury. In combination with coming off a hectic weekend, I wasn’t sure what I had in me for the race. This was the perfect way to close out this weekend and I am so overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and congratulations for crossing that finish line.

Thank you for being my Boston host and cheering me on!! I literally could not have done this without you 🤍

thank you so much for securing this opportunity for me, you are the MVP 💙💛
