There is a rhythm to the universe, and once you find your beat, everything changes. ✨✨ hope all is well, this is one my latest works in progress.
Some rather Large works in progress in the studio lately.

When I approach skin, especially in the delicate architecture of hands, I return to a few principles:

• Build from within, not on top
Let warmth live beneath the surface—subtle reds, ochres, and violets that pulse through thinner passages of paint. Skin should feel lit from inside, never pasted on.

• Edges are everything
Nothing is uniformly sharp. Forms dissolve, reappear, and soften into one another. The most beautiful transitions are almost invisible.

• Temperature creates life
Cool shadows against warm halftones, gentle shifts that suggest circulation, breath, presence. Avoid uniformity—skin is alive because it varies.

• Value before color
If the structure of light and shadow is true, the skin will feel believable even in near-monochrome. Color refines—but value convinces.

• Restraint over detail
The temptation is always to describe. But elegance lives in suggestion. Let certain passages remain unresolved, so the eye can complete them.

• Think in planes, not lines
A hand is a series of turning forms, not outlines. Let light glide across those planes instead of trapping them in contour.

• Glaze, don’t force
Depth comes from translucency. Thin layers allow previous decisions to breathe through, creating that unmistakable softness.

• Stillness in the process
There is a certain quiet required. Rushing flattens everything. Slowness allows the painting to reveal what it wants to become.

Layers and layers and layers…

#workinprogress #coloredpencils
There is something profoundly beautiful about being human—
to feel, to long, to soften, to become.

2025 in highlights.
Floral opulence, refined crabs, poised portraits, and mirror-like metals.
A study in elegance, light, and precision.

I wonder what 2026 will bring… some new ideas in motion!

My latest work — a gigantic eye, built slowly through layers.
Swipe through the process 👇🏻

Phase 1 — Foundation (Pic 2)
A faint graphite layout (2H, HB).
Just enough to place forms accurately — iris, lids, highlight shapes, shadow planes.
Precision first, so that later stages flow instead of fight.

Phase 2 — First Layers (Pic 3)
Color introduced in soft, translucent passes.
I begin with small sections, just enough to anchor the drawing.
Nothing rushed — only built.

Phase 3 — Expansion (Pic 4)
Layering extends across the whole surface.
Soft passes establish value, depth and subtle temperature shifts.
Form begins to interact with light — slowly alive.

Phase 4 — Refinement (Pic 5)
More layers, more control, more nuance.
Edges sharpen where needed, soften where not.
Color becomes texture, moisture, skin.

Phase 5 — Focus & Detail (Pic 6 and 1)
Lights brighten, shadows deepen, intention sharpens.
Details appear only where meaning requires them.
Technique serves feeling — not the other way around.

Every phase holds emotion.
It’s not just an eye — it’s perception, attention, presence.
I have been having a lot of questions about which paper and which pencils I use. So here are all the essentials. ☺️
