Hätte mir jemand all das erzählt, als ich mit 5 Jahren als kleines Mädchen mit dem Fußball angefangen habe – ich hätte es kaum glauben können. Und doch war genau das mein größter Traum. Er wurde zu meinem täglichen Antrieb, immer alles zu geben, mit Leidenschaft zu arbeiten und nie den Ehrgeiz zu verlieren.

Diesen Satz haben mir meine Eltern von klein auf mitgegeben – und er beschreibt wohl am besten, was es bedeutet, seinen Traum zu leben und Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen.
Heute blicke ich voller Dankbarkeit auf eine wundervolle internationale Karriere zurück, die für immer einen Platz in meinem Herzen haben wird. Vom ersten bis zum letzten Spiel habe ich das Nationaltrikot mit Stolz, Freude und Demut getragen. Es war mir ein großes Privileg, für mein Land aufzulaufen.
Ich habe noch beide Seiten miterlebt– von Spielen vor 2.000 Zuschauer*innen bis hin zu ausverkauften Stadien mit einer überragenden Atmosphäre. Auf diese Entwicklung bin ich unglaublich stolz. Und ich freue mich ganz besonders für die nächste Generation, die diesen Weg weitergehen darf und die Begeisterung für den deutschen Frauenfußball noch größer machen wird.
Nach 12 Jahren in der Nationalmannschaft ist jetzt der richtige Moment gekommen, Abschied zu nehmen. Es fühlt sich für mich richtig an.
