This tiny two-week-old domestic baby rabbit was found abandoned on a sidewalk with no mother in sight. A local shelter reached out to us for help, and our team immediately stepped in to provide emergency neonatal care. In this video, one of our staff members is carefully syringe feeding formula, something that must be done frequently and delicately for a baby this young to survive.
Domestic rabbits cannot survive on their own outdoors, especially at this age. Babies this young require specialized feeding, warmth, hydration, and constant monitoring around the clock. Cases like this are emotionally difficult, but every small life deserves a chance.

Pippa from the San Diego House Rabbit Society came to us because her caregivers noticed that she was leaning to the right and had a distinct "scanning" motion (as seen in the video). Clinical signs of E. cuniculi include torticollis, nystagmus, seizures, longitudinal rolling, renal insufficiency, cataracts, uveitis, glaucoma, and possibly death. It is important to address any changes in your rabbit so veterinarians can quickly start treatments. In addition, because rabbits are prey animals, they tend to mask any potential health issues. Therefore, even though your rabbit might not seem to have something wrong, it is important to take them to their annual wellness exams to keep up with their care and provide them with what they need to continue thriving. Pippa is currently under constant care and monitoring at the San Diego House Rabbit Society with the recommendation of her veterinarians.

Darla, our oldest rabbit (14 years old) and longest resident, is currently at the vet after her foster mom noticed wheezing, limb weakness, and circling this morning. She immediately contacted our team, and Darla was rushed in for emergency care.
Right now, Darla is receiving oxygen support and medications in the hopes that she can recover. We are cautiously optimistic and doing everything we can for our old lady.
Her current veterinary bill is already $1,500.
