I always wanted to be pregnant and carry our babies, but my body had other plans. 3 IUIs. A round of IVF. 3 frozen embryo transfers. Chemical pregnancies. And then a missed miscarried.
My body needed a break, so Allie stepped up to the plate.
She decided she’d do one frozen embryo transfer, but with the criteria of no PIO injections and we’d transfer two embryos this time.
And to our shock, they both stuck!
Allie hated being pregnant and was sick the entire time 🤢
It was a high risk pregnancy with lots of scans and tests, but she carried our babies to 37 weeks!
And I’m so, so thankful for her and all she’s done for our little family 🥹
I have a mental health condition called Trichotillomania that makes me pull my hair out. I don’t discriminate! I will pull out hair just about anywhere on my body, but I primarily pull my eyelashes and eyebrows.
I’ve been dealing with it since I was around 12 years old, and it’s ebbed and flowed over the years. Sometimes I can go days, weeks, or rarely even months without pulling. Other times I pull everyday until I have large bald patches 👀
I’m always worried someone will notice and ask about my bald spots and put a lot of effort into hiding them.
This is a mental health condition that definitely isn’t talked about much, and a lot of people suffer in silence.
So here’s a reminder for everyone else that pulls out their hair that you’re not alone 🤍
In 2014, I started my coming out journey and turned my Tinder to girls. Allie was the first girl I ever went on a date with and the only 😅
She always asks me if I feel like I missed out by not dating around, but I don’t feel like that at all! I feel the opposite and like I won the lottery 🎰

I’ve been seeing an awful lot of hate lately hiding behind scripture and it’s been so disheartening 💔
And as two moms raising children, it’s impossible not to notice how often the conversation shifts to “protecting kids” from people like us.
But no child is harmed by seeing queer people exist openly and happily. They aren’t being indoctrinated into the queer community by seeing a pride flag. They are not harmed by seeing two moms hold hands or by learning that some people use different pronouns or by understanding that families can look different from theirs 🤷🏻♀️
What does harm children is teaching them that some people are less deserving of love, respect, safety, or belonging. What harms children is teaching them to judge strangers before they know them. What harms children is hearing cruelty framed as some moral superiority.
Calling hatred “concern” does not make it less harmful. Hiding behind religion does not erase the impact your words have on real people 📣
Queer people are not ruining society by existing. Trans people are not a threat to anyone. Pronouns are not dangerous. Inclusion is not indoctrination. Pride is not hurting anyone.
We have no room for transphobia or homophobia here 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Honestly, this is a real fear of mine 🙈
We picked an open ID donor (meaning our kids could find out he is when they reach 18) because we wanted our kids to have the choice to meet him.
But now that I know more about the DCP community I realize that him wanting a relationship with them isn’t a given just because he chose to be an open ID donor.
And I worry about what will happen if they want to get to know them and he gives them the cold shoulder…
And I could be worrying about it for nothing! Our kids could never want to meet the donor 🤷🏻♀️
Any other parents of donor conceived kids feel this way?
And this life is infinitely times sweeter than anything I could have imagined 🤍

Our road to becoming a two mom family was full of ups and downs and more detours than we ever expected. We thought that because we didn’t have an infertility diagnosis and just needed help because we’re two women, it would be quick and straightforward.
It was anything but!
We went through IUIs, at home insemination, IVF, and multiple frozen embryo transfers before finally getting to hold our rainbow babies. The process was mentally, physically, and financially exhausting. But more than anything, it was deeply isolating.
We were constantly searching for support, resources, and other peoples experiences, but found so little out there for two women trying to make a baby together.
So we wrote the book we wish we’d had.
How to Make a Baby is part personal story, part practical guide for queer folks navigating fertility treatments. We cover everything from choosing a donor and understanding your options, to pregnancy loss and pregnancy after loss, to inducing lactation, the cost of it all, and so much more
My hope is that this book can offer support and guidance for queer families like ours dreaming of having a baby. If it makes even one person feel a little less alone, then it’s done its job! 🤍
