During my trip to Mexico City, I learned about the complex, diverse history that gave way to the kaleidoscope of cultures and architecture we see today. The buildings, cathedrals, doorways, balconies and other historic structures opened my eyes as a photographer to capture the texture, colour and designs— it really was everywhere!
It's easy to view these photos and say, "Yeah, of course México City would be that diverse, colourful, etc". But in contrast to Toronto's mishmash of old buildings with skyscrapers pasted on top of them, it's hard not to notice the differences. As Toronto continues to grow, I hope we can see more colour, texture and innovation and less of a concrete jungle.
