āHave you heard of the Quran? It has 6,236 verses. These verses were revealed over the span of 23 years at various moments of our Prophets life yet the entire Quran fits together like a puzzle š§©
So when I heard this analogy, I wanted to explore a way to create a visual representation of this.ā
āBut how did you think of this? Where do you get the ideas?ā
So I shared how Iāve draped fabric to create a sculptural effect to symbolize the pregnant stomach of Mary (Maryam AS) and the birth of Jesus (Prophet Isa AS) under a palm treeā¦
then leather for the story of Jonah and the whale (Yunus AS) in the darkness of the ocean.
I stood in their home chatting about everything from the Quran to our cats. It was so sweet š
As I was about to leave, she looked at me with excitement and said WAIT, but you need 6,236 pieces for your painting and Iāve only given you 5,000 puzzle pieces.
I told her Iād go buy the rest later tonight
She looked at her husband and they both smiled wide. āGive me the garage keysā She said to him.
Went straight to the garage and brought multiple boxes of 1,000 piece puzzles which she hadnāt listed and said āhere take them all!ā With the biggest smile Subhanallah
She didnāt accept payment and gave the rest as a gift.
I had to share this with you all. So when you see the puzzles š§© on the paintings, youāll remember this sweet story š

On the left, textured outlines of the mountains of Safa and Marwa symbolize the story of Hajar AS and her unwavering trust in Allah. Despite the uncertainty, she proclaimed, āAllah will not abandon us.ā Her story teaches us to rely on Allah and have tawakkul.
Above the mountains, a moon pierced by an arrow-shaped letter represents the statement by Imam Shafi: āThe dua made at tahajjud is like an arrow which does not miss its target.ā This imagery highlights the power of heartfelt supplication during the sacred hours of the night, encouraging us to place our deepest fears and hopes in Allahās hands.
The main feature on this side is the falling leaves, symbolizing a Hadith in which the Prophet Muhammad PBUH described how the discomfort of illness purifies the soul, expiating sins as leaves fall from a tree. This reminds us that illness is, in fact, a blessingāan opportunity to draw closer to Allah.
The central theme of the painting is the name of Allah, As-Salam (The Giver of Peace), painted across the artwork to remind us that true peace comes through acceptance of Allahās qadr. Inscribed within the mountains and the sea are powerful duas from Ibrahim AS and Yunus AS, alongside the reassuring words of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH to Abu Bakr while they were hiding in the cave: āDo not worry, Allah is with us.ā
On the right side, the painting shifts focus to inspire hope and excitement for the Hereafter. A pixelated pearl, surrounded by the gardens and rivers of Jannah, symbolizes the wonders Allah has prepared for the believersābeauties beyond human comprehension. The curtain being pulled aside represents the unveiling of this eternal life, accompanied by the divine promise: āEnter Paradise; you shall have no fear nor any grief.ā

When I went for umrah in 2014 for the first time with my parents, my mom and I would look at the art in the hallways of Swissotel. I laughed about my art in Makkah as a possibility and she hinted at āwhy not? Inshallah!ā..anyways, this hotel happens to be right down the street! Subhanallah š„¹
