Because the world always needs more snowy pictures/reels/movies

Snow, blizzard, winter, Amsterdam, four seasons, Vivaldi
2025 - my Belle Epoque.
Thank you for everyone who enjoyed life with me, whether youโ€™re part of my life for years, or when our paths more recently crossed. If youโ€™re not in a picture, it doesnโ€™t mean I donโ€™t appreciate you; keep in mind my best moments in life are not published on social media ๐Ÿ˜‰

Whilst January started a little heavy, it finished with a lovely friends & food weekend in the Ardennes. February brought me back to my beloved Kenya, where I kicked off my forties with my Kenyan family. Followed by trips to Paris, the Dutch coast, more Paris, an incredible trip to L.E. Miami, Paris again, again and again. The city suits me so well and I like who I am there a lot. A more bold and daring version. Itโ€™s where I feel safe while stepping out of my comfort zone. From Paris to Italy for food & friends under the Tuscan sun. Enjoying August as a local in Paris, finding my way back home in Amsterdam, a little trip to London, more Paris.
Work/career wise I hope to find more stability and certainty in the new year, but I found a side project to challenge myself again: bring people together over good food. Connecting people, places etc is my purpose in life.
Besides that, balance will be my keyword for 2026.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year and a healthy, sparkling and loving 2026. Stay safe and please enjoy my future adventures here with me โœจ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿพ๐Ÿชฉ๐Ÿ’–โšก๏ธ
The Year I Chose Yes

The year without the โ€˜but what ifsโ€™
This was the year
I didnโ€™t wait for certainty.
I flirted with the unknown,
took the long road or an unexpected turn.

I said yes to maybe,
chose the door slightly ajar,
let curiosity outpace caution
for once, I let life surprise me.

Ten years - a decade of paused dreams,
of mapping life around symptoms,
not desires.

My body, once a battleground,
became a quiet co-conspirator.
After years of stillness,
I danced - even when no one asked me to.

There were bruises, of course.
A few echoes of โ€˜but what ifโ€™.
Though I gathered moments like matchsticks
and struck them one by one, not to burn down the past,
but to light my own way forward.

And forty arrived
not with fear,
but with fire.
A quiet rebellion
against staying small
or safe
or silent.

And it turns out,
the best thing I did this year
was let go of the โ€˜what ifsโ€™ and go through life with saying โ€˜yesโ€™

This year,
I said yes to the unknown,
to new cities,
to wild ideas,
to strangers and familiar people,
to smart and stupid (ad)ventures,
to champagne under foreign skies
and laughter louder than doubt.

I let โ€˜what ifโ€™ lead me -
not as a warning,
but as an invitation.

And in choosing risk,
I found return.
Not in perfection,
but in aliveness.
This year didnโ€™t fix me.
It freed me.

And for the first time in a long time,
that was more than enough.

Have you watched Emily in Paris S5 already? Thoughts?
Well, I think Emily has some serious outfit competition in Amsterdam, where and I dressed up for the occasion of the x launch. Our nails always look flawless. And even after doing this for over 18 years, getting invited to these events still feels like an incredible honour.

Canโ€™t wait for my S26 Sabine in Paris adventures though ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

Last week I was invited to try out the dinner menu at Kafe Kontrast. Yes, you read that right. Swedish chef Ellinor Strinnholm is back to fine(r) dining. No worries, the iconic brunches arenโ€™t going anywhere.
About the dinner: the ultimate comfort food on a dark, cold and rainy evening with a perfect wine pairing. The food is rich in flavours and textures, with still a funny mixture of Scandinavian and Indonesian influences. You can opt for meat or vegetarian but I would definitely recommend the oxtail.
Partly natural wines, I am more a classic wine lover, but these werenโ€™t the acidic wines smelling of hay and stables. There is also a great zero-proof non-alcoholic pairing on offer. The bread pudding brulรฉe still lives rent-free in my head and itโ€™s been a while since I dined out in this category of restaurants in the city and absolutely had no remarks, the service was impeccable. Special shoutout to the chef for taking my coriander allergy seriously and making a separate Nasi from scratch for us. Allergies in Amsterdam restaurants are still a joke to some kitchen teams, but nobody tried to suffocate me this time which is highly appreciated, specially since it was pretty last minute arranged.
So well done team and fellow food lovers: do go!

Dinner Amsterdam Restaurants Recommendation
Itโ€™s the season to be jolly, nananananana nananana.
When you got to be creative with the liquid gold, deep pockets do come handy. The bottle and its lovely contents made it safe all the way home. ๐Ÿ’š ๐Ÿท
Same but different.
