Earlier this year, we began work on a masterplan to transform an existing farm and farmhouse into a collection of individual plots. With the original farmhouse already having strong character, presence, and value, we chose to extend and enhance it rather than demolish and rebuild.
What started as a modest farmhouse evolved into a proposal featuring a substantial side extension for the kitchen, living, and dining spaces, alongside a connecting link between the new and existing structure, with further extensions to the rear and side elevations.
Although we anticipated some resistance from planning due to the scale of the proposal, the application was fully supported and approved within just 6 weeks.
Now, our focus shifts to designing Plot 2…..and it has the potential to be our best one yet… 🏠

Last year, the team visited Tiree to carry out a site appraisal before progressing and submitting a planning application earlier this year for a new tourist accommodation dwelling.
Inspired by the surrounding context, neighbouring buildings, and objects washed ashore by the sea, the design evolved through a palette of shuttered concrete, charred timber, and red zinc.
Following positive feedback, we hope to secure consent this month and move forward with the detailed design package.
A truly beautiful project that we’re proud to be a part of.

A beautiful traditional sandstone villa, thoughtfully reimagined with a contemporary extension that juxtaposes while respects and enhances its Victorian character. Designed with modern family living in mind, the brief was to create a more open, living/ dining space connected to the kitchen at the heart of the home.
The result creates a bright, open-plan area, elevated by a striking roof lantern that floods the space with natural light and brings a whole new energy to everyday living.
Working within a conservation area came with its challenges from materiality to form but the outcome is a truly bespoke extension that feels both timeless and fresh.

Back in 2021, we were asked by our friends Christine & Scott to extend, develop and transform their new home in Annbank.
We proposed reworking the existing upside-down layout by extending on both sides, creating a social upper level with kitchen, living space and terrace, while positioning the bedrooms and lounge at garden level.
We may have got a little too excited and suggested stretching the budget, but our clients bought into the vision, made it work and trusted the process. The results… well, you can see for yourself.
From the outset, our clients invested time in exploring each space in 3D, and the finished build follows that vision precisely.
