It was the year I ended a 6 year relationship, I quit my first corporate job out of college (that I hated!), moved from Ireland to the mountains in North Carolina, to a random kids summer camp (where there was no phone service!) to teach horse riding lessons for 6 months.
Then instead of going back to Ireland drove with a friend across country to California (and stayed there for 6 years before moving back to North Carolina for 3!).
Lots and lots of firsts this year, lots of hikes, lots of laughs and lots of learning 🤍
9 months of so many amazing places and memories (and mirror kisses!)
can’t believe it’s been 2 years (today!) since we left for the first part of our amazing trip 🥺

I have spent half my life in the states (0-8 & 23-30), and half in Ireland (8-22) where I’m currently based in Kilkenny City.
I met my wonderful husband when I lived in San Diego (where he’s from!), we rescued our perfect Tijuana rescue dog, Archie & spent the best days at the dog beach in OB & bopping around breweries with our amazing friends.
A few years later we moved to Charlotte NC, spent 3 years meeting some amazing friends, adjusting to the humidity & exploring the East Coast whenever we had time off work! Then about a year and a half ago decided to give Ireland a try together
Prior to settling down in Ireland we decided to travel around Europe for 10 months ✈️, which was the best decisions we ever made! We left our corporate jobs, explored and relaxed, and shockingly, we’ve never been so happy!
During this time I captured some amazing Airbnbs and grew my travel content-creation network. We met so many amazing hosts, stayed in so many beautiful properties, & we’re so grateful for each experience!
A couple random things about me:
📚 I love to read, but read mostly on my kindle!
💐 I’m obsessed with picking wild flower bouquets in the spring/summer (see my wildflower highlight!)
🇮🇪🇺🇸 I equally love Ireland and the States, & moving to one & leaving the other is always an excruciating decision
🌞 We are loving living in Ireland & being close to family but my god, I miss the NC seasons SO badly😭!!
🏕️ Living in a tent in France & Spain was my favorite part of our Europe trip last year, I loved having a fire every night, waking up to the birds, & drinking my morning coffee outside!
🌱 I’m obsessed with hormone health & hiking🥾
🎶 Country music is my favorite, but my Spotify is a wild place!
🐎 I grew up riding horses with my best friends, & I miss it dearly
✨I’m so grateful for this little life & excited to keep growing my experience & exploring new places

The trail is only 5.1 miles (out and back), but with a whopping 2,201ft elevation gain it was toughhh!

Pico do Arieiro is the third highest peak in Madeira, standing at an impressive 1,818 meters tall (5964 ft!).

It takes about 45 minutes to get to the trailhead from Funchal, and the roads are steep and windy (real life Mario Cart vibes!). The hike takes between 3-5 hours, depending on how fast you go/how many times you stop to take videos of the breathtaking views!

We had breakfast plans so we couldn’t, but I’ve heard from this is an INCREDIBLE sunrise hike!!
