Singapore, to me, is a kind of bittersweet fate I just can’t shake off. I complain about how expensive it is, yet I keep coming back—because it’s a country so worth learning from. My first love was Singaporean. And the most recent one? Also Singaporean. I keep saying I hate it, but somehow I still find myself packing my suitcase and going. That says enough, doesn’t it?
Honestly, when I heard that our queen was opening a show in Singapore, I was half-excited, half-worried. Excited because, at 47, she’s still grinding so we can have new music to listen to. Worried that the show might not sell out… that people would mock her saying she’s past her prime, questioning why her voice doesn’t sound like when she was 20 anymore.
Excuse me, what?!
Then there’s the behavior of some fans—always clinging to her image when she was 20 or 21, when she was the it girl of Asian fashion. Longing for that era, wanting to rewind time.

She’s 47, a mother of two, and people don’t expect her appearance or voice to change? She’s human, not some mythical being! Most of those fans who were “U20” back in the day are now proudly in their U40s—so why deny the woman they idolize the right to grow up with time too? That’s just bizarre.
