La leyenda de las Tres Princesas (Zaida, Zoraida y Zorahaida) fueron encerradas por su padre el rey, Muhammad IX El Zurdo, para evitar un mal matrimonio con ‘infieles’. Pero éstas se enamoraron de tres soldados caballeros encarcelados en el recinto, urdiendo un plan de fuga para casarse con ellos. Sin embargo, una de ellas, Zorahaida, se arrepintió en el último momento, muriendo de tristeza tiempo después. Sobre su sepultura creció entonces ‘la rosa de la Alhambra’.
