We spent the day soaking in the breathtaking thermal waters of Poça da Dona Beija, surrounded by lush tropical gardens that looked like something straight out of a dream. Everywhere I turned, it felt like paradise.
From there, we visited Caldeiras das Furnas, one of my mom’s favorite places from her childhood. Watching the steam rise from the earth while hearing her stories made it even more special. There is something incredibly beautiful about experiencing the places that shaped the people you love.
We wrapped up the day with an amazing meal at Tony’s Restaurant, enjoying great food, family, and gratitude for this unforgettable trip.
At this point, I may just stay in São Miguel and start a little “Rustic Roots Azores” branch. 😂🌿🇵🇹

I had to share this gorgeous chapel here in Ponta Delgada. Built in 1553, it is the oldest chapel on the island and a beautiful reminder of why I have always been so drawn to Europe.
One of the many things I miss about living in Spain is being surrounded by centuries of history, breathtaking architecture, charming chapels, and majestic castles. Everywhere you turn, there is a story waiting to be told. Standing in a place that has witnessed nearly 500 years of faith, culture, and community is both humbling and inspiring.
These historic treasures are one of the reasons I love Europe so much, and discovering them here in the Azores feels a little like coming home. ❤️⛪️✨
