1. It’s hypocritical.
You can’t pursue a woman knowing exactly how she dresses, then suddenly expect her to conform to your version of modesty after the fact. You made an adult decision, no one forced you into the relationship.
2. Modesty means different things to different people.
If your partner has a different religious or cultural background, she can’t be expected to follow your idea of modesty standards. You can talk about comfort levels and boundaries, but expecting her to fully change is unfair and controlling.
3. Respect goes both ways.
It’s completely okay to voice discomfort respectfully, and it’s just as important for her to take that into consideration. But the respect has to be mutual. It’s not one person dictating the other.
4. Real love doesn’t come with conditions. If someone only values you once you “change” who you are, that’s not love, that’s control. Real relationships are built on understanding, not ultimatums.
For me, Farhaan has never asked me to change how I dress. He knew exactly who I was and what my style was when he chose me. Of course, I respect his opinion; if he ever feels something’s a bit revealing, I listen, but he’s never demanded or made anything conditional. That’s what healthy respect looks like.
To sum up: if you can’t handle a certain type of baddie, don’t choose that one🤪
Context: I get tons of DMs from non-Muslim girls dating Muslim men who have been in long-term relationships who are now being told they must stop wearing leggings/tanks/tight dresses etc or dressing a certain way if they want to be considered for marriage after being under the impression it wasn’t a problem until now.

We also address the struggles encountered by couples in intercultural and interracial relationships, who often face similar prejudices despite sharing the same religious background and beliefs. In this way, we have plenty of videos celebrating the “fight to be together” and the “victory of being accepted” because we’re still so proud of that achievement and softening of Farhaan’s family towards an interfaith marriage. Regardless of your or our beliefs on interfaith marriage, we also want to spread the “don’t give up!” and “people can change” message, because hope is so important to everyone fighting to be with their love against those opposed. I hope this makes sense and please don’t hesistate to ask for clarification, I tried to articulate myself in the best way thay I could but I don’t want people to misinterpret what I’m saying either because these are sensitive topics we’re discussing.

“What religion are you going to raise your kids in?”
We used to answer this publicly, but no matter what we say, we get a lot of hate for it. If we say Muslim, we get hate from Christians. If we say Christian, we get hate from Muslims. If we say both or neither, we get hate from both sides.
Our only answer to this is that yes, Farhaan & I discussed kids prior to marriage, and it’s essential you do too on your own. We’re both happy with what our plan is, but currently we don’t have children, so we like to make content on what we HAVE done, & not what we WILL do since we do not have that lived experience yet.
In the past I’ve answered private DMs to answer this question for people who want to know for genuine reasons & not as an excuse to hate on our marriage, but everyone’s overwhelming support & questions for us overflows our inboxes everyday so please understand if we don’t get back to you right away.
