Du bist derjenige, der mich nach Leipzig geholt hat, die ersten Jahre viel Geduld mit mir hatte und mich schlussendlich zu vielen internationalen Meisterschaften, einschließlich den Olympischen Spielen, geführt hat. Dafür werde ich dir ewig dankbar sein! Nicht nur als Trainer sondern vor allem als Mensch eine Bereicherung für den deutschen Sprint und für mich!
Vielen Dank auch an das "Goldene Oval Dresden". Einen schöneren Abschluss hätte ich mir nicht erträumen können! Nächste Woche drehe ich bei den Deutschen Polizeimeisterschaften noch eine Ehrenrunde und danach werden die Spikes an den berühmten Nagel gehängt.
Ich freue mich jetzt auf einen neuen Lebensabschnitt, auch wenn ich es vermisse werde über die Bahn zu "fliegen".

Aufgrund eines unglücklichen Unfalls im Trainingslager auf Gran Canaria, dem darauffolgenden Trainingsausfalls in einer sehr wichtigen Phase und einiger kleinerer privater Probleme lief es sportlich für mich dieses Jahr leider alles andere als optimal. Ich habe die olympischen Spiele verpasst und konnte auch zeitlich nicht das auf die Bahn bringen, was ich eigentlich kann. Der Körper und die Form waren wieder bereit aber der Kopf wollte nicht. Ich habe mir aufgrund eines suboptimalen Saisonstarts und den frühen deutschen Meisterschaften unnötig Druck gemacht und bin dadurch technisch so unsauber gelaufen, dass schnelle Zeiten unmöglich waren. Zusammengefasst hatte ich dieses Jahr nie das "Feeling" für das Sprinten.
Aber es sind 2021 auch schöne Sachen passiert, die mir Kraft für kommende Aufgaben geben. Mein Weg ist noch lange nicht zuende und meine Ziele für nächstes Jahr sind Eugene und München!
Ich bedanke mich bei allen, die mich auch in schwierigen Saisons immer unterstützen; meiner Familie, meinen Freunde, den besonderen Menschen in meinem Leben aber auch meinen Trainern, meiner Trainingsgruppe, meinen Sponsoren, der Polizei Sachsen, dem medizinischen Team und meinem Verein.
Ein ganz besonderer Dank gilt, und für den außergewöhnlichen Einsatz auf Gran Canaria.

Leider werden die Olympischen Spiele ohne mich stattfinden und ich verpasse nach 6 Jahren mal wieder ein Großereignis.
Die Vorbereitung lief dank einiger Probleme und Vorfälle (u.a. ein Unfall im Trainingslager auf Gran Canaria) nicht optimal. Die Form kam schnell zurück aber die Sicherheit und die Selbstverständlichkeit im Kopf und auf der Bahn leider nicht. Somit wurde der Druck, den ich mir selber gemacht habe, von Woche zu Woche größer, was meiner Leistung im Wettkampf leider nicht zuträglich war.
Aber ich habe mich mit der Situation abgefunden und ziehe Lehren und Motivation daraus.
Mein Weg ist noch lange nicht zu Ende!
