It’s been 352 days.

The last time we walked down the street on that Sunday afternoon.
Our last roast chicken and our final words. Your last word to me, now a word so precious i cannot say it out loud for it lives in a place in my heart that is so sacred and sad, i cannot disturb it for fear it will unleash tears i do not have enough time to expel.
If I were to live one hundred years more, even that would not run them dry.
The last time you smiled at me and I kissed your soft cheek.
Nothing and no one are the same without you.
We are but bruised fruit in this bowl here on earth.

Everything was inspired by and her citronic wisdom, an idea brought to life by chef, and the management. Garnished by my paint, palettes, brushes, easels and ideas.
The amount of heart palpitations that occurred in my chest from the beginning to end of this was palpable. Pun intended.
The good news is- I did it- we did it- and everything is better shared.

Thank you for welcoming me and back with open arms, big smiles and breathtaking beauty. From the red earth and kangaroos, emus and goats- to the Barka and the warm and generous Barkindji mob- each part of Wilcannia is sacred.
Making art with each and every person has been the most magical start to 2026, and a trip that I will cherish forever.
Can’t wait to go back and do it all again soon.

I learned more than ever, and we made more Art than I could ever have dreamed.
So many enjoying their first dance around a canvas, an easel or a palette of cerulean blue.

Every single person I had the honour of working with this year ( and by my calculations it’s a few hundred) has touched me, taught me- and I will never forget.
Each one helped me steer the ship, in high seas and tidal waves -we did it together.

The other day I heard a story I wanted to call and tell her straightaway about, instead I will tell you.
A friend of mine went to the Pilbara recently, where he met an Indigenous man. Together they walked and they reached a water spring- when they got there, the Indigenous man said this.
“This water spring has kept me and my family alive for generations. I stand here before you today because of this water spring, because it sustained me, it sustained us.”
Muma- you are my water spring.
You gave your body, your heart, your soul and your wisdom to me.
You fought for me in ways I both do and don’t know.
You sacrificed more than most, and loved me more than anyone, always unconditionally.
You are my water spring.
There are no words to describe how grateful I am to you, may these words act as just a fragment.
As you would say “ thank you for being you”
Darkness has fallen without you, but I know you will show me the light.
Until we meet again. Under our moon and inside our stars, and under that willow tree you whispered to me in lullabies.
