Growing up, I was constantly told Romania was not good enough. The education was poor, people were tricky, corruption would never stop. Nobody encouraged me to love where I came from.
When I moved in May 2022, I thought I was prepared. I spoke German, I had done the research, I had even spent time in Germany as a student before (well, more of a summer school, but still). I thought I knew what to expect.
I had no idea how different a plan looks from reality. The cognitive load of living in a second language, the bureaucracy, the incredibly long processes, missing my family and my husband, feeling lonely in a city of strangers. It brought me to tears almost every day for the first three months. 😅
Learning: Whatever the expat glamorous reels on social media show you, they are leaving out the hard parts. I was young and optimistic back then, I chose to see the good parts only and hope it will be ‘better’.
I simply realised that in the end I was running away, hoping to find myself on the other side. Did I? I am not sure. I am much better than I was 4 years ago for sure.

1. Healthy lifestyle doesn't mean gym and healthy food. It also means mobility, how you take care of your posture and what you feed your brain every day. Every thought matters.
2. I used to hate Romania. I denied my roots for a long time. Finally I healed the non-patriotic side after having difficulty experiences in Germany and understanding how valuable my roots and my home country are.
3. Social media hustle culture hurts our brains, trust and real passions. I found myself doing things which I actually did not truly wanted, just because social media showed us sth else. Silly me. Been there, done that, never again.
4. As you age everything becomes so much easier to tolerate or ignore. I don't care about a lot of things I used to care before (looks, what people say about me). It really feels good.
5. Change really starts within you. For a long time I was blaming somebody else for a lot of things, but when I started changing myself, everything settled. It's not your parents or how you were raised. You have the power to break cycles. Life has its ways to show you stuff.

I have only 1 wish every year ever since: to spend one Christmas or Easter with ALL my family members. I am still super grateful for this year because I get to spend Christmas with my mom, home, in Bucharest, and that is absolutely priceless. Literally I am so rich! Maybe for some it's something usual, for me, after almost 4 years of aviation where I was not allowed to take leaves on holidays, it is like something super big and important for me.
I know it sounds cliche but really spend time with your dear ones and appreciate them, guys! You never know how long it lasts or what turns life takes. Take care and be present!

German Eierpunsch (Egg Liqueur Punch) is a warm drink made with egg liqueur, milk, cream, and rum, gently heated (never boiled!) and topped with whipped cream, nutmeg & cinnamon. Creamy, comforting, and perfect for the holidays!
Ingredients (2–3 mugs):
200 ml milk
50 ml cream
150 ml Eierlikör (egg liqueur)
60 ml rum
1 vanilla sugar sachet
To serve:
Whipped cream, nutmeg, cinnamon
Method:
Heat all ingredients gently in a pot (do not boil).
Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream, nutmeg & cinnamon. Enjoy!

After almost 4 years of living abroad, I finally felt the need to make this video. I had tears in my eyes while recording the voiceover, and I don't care about reach or views, also I don't really care that my cozonac (traditional Romanian cake) doesn't look the best and I also have a "fake" ie (Romanian blouse)😆.
My message matters here and it carries my whole journey, my identity, and my healing.
Moving abroad has been the most life-changing experience of my life.
It taught me resilience, it taught me gratitude, and most of all… it taught me to love Romania in a way I never could when I lived there.

In Romania, Name Days are celebrated just like birthdays. We gather with family, call loved ones, and of course… we bake something delicious.
Today I made cozonac, Romania’s most beloved festive dessert. It's a sweet brioche filled with walnuts & cocoa and reminds me of childhood.
🇷🇴 Why St. Andrew (Sfântul Andrei) is special in Romania:
It marks the beginning of winter traditions, good luck rituals, and ancient customs that go back centuries. One of my favourites? Planting wheat (grâu) on the night of November 30th. The way the wheat grows is believed to reflect the year ahead: strong growth means health, abundance, and good fortune.

High protein, packed with probiotics, spicy, creamy, cheesy… everything a good sandwich should be.
Here’s the recipe:
Tuna filling:
• 1 can tuna in brine, drained
• 1 scallion, finely diced
• 4 tbsp mayo
• Kimchi (to taste)
• 1 tbsp gochujang
• A drizzle of sesame oil
For the sandwich:
• 2 slices sourdough
• Grated cheddar + mozzarella
• Butter (to taste)
Method:
Mix all ingredients for the tuna filling.
Butter the bread, place it butter-side down in a pan, add the cheese, cover with a lid, and cook on low–medium until golden and melty.
Top with the tuna filling, slice, and enjoy.
(Optional: warm the tuna mix for 1–2 min in a pan, I prefer it cold, so I skipped this step.)
