#2025
Thank you so much for these we had such a lovely time!
Lots of love โค๏ธ
My journey was just beginning!
Just as the world shut down in 2020, our hearts opened up with the beautiful news of my pregnancy. I wanted a natural birth for my daughter, so we traveled to Kochi for it.
I even trained myself as a birth preparation coach and practiced baby-led weaning. She became the center of my universe, yet she never became an excuse to stop pursuing my passions. When she turned two, I returned to sailing once more.
But how far did I go this time?
I joined the Tamil Nadu Womenโs Police sailing team and completed a 1,000 km world record sail along Indiaโs coastline in a J80 boat, proving to myself that motherhood and ambition can coexist.
But the sea wasnโt the only stage I belonged to. Theatre has been a part of my life since childhood, thanks to my mother, who founded The Little Theatre in 1991, long before Chennaiโs arts culture bloomed.
A turning point came when my mother partnered with a medical clown, and the concept completely captivated us. Soon, I became Indiaโs first certified medical clown professional!
Medical clowning wasnโt simply about wearing a costume. It was about giving children control in a space where they usually feel powerless. Through techniques like distraction therapy, we helped reduce sedation needs and ease emotional stress.
My husband, my best friend since first grade, is an actor himself. Together, we run The Little Theatre. For the past 2 years, Iโve been the CEO, developing medical clowning and training programs for the next generation.
Apart from this, Iโm a lyricist, a trained dancer and I play the piano and violin. I also acted in an Italian feature film "Gills" at age 12 and even sang playback for the Tamil movie "Three Roses." It's been an amazing journey so far.
Iโve spent over a decade as a motivational speaker, am a TED Fellow, a TEDx speaker and have conducted humanitarian research across Kenya, Nepal, Tanzania and India. I also serve on the Global Shapers Alumni Advisory Council."

Born into a multicultural family with a Bengali-Malayali mother and an Udupi father and raised in the heart of Chennai, my life was destined to be anything but ordinary.
My childhood was a whirlwind of movement, music, and discipline that pushed my limits in the best ways possible.
My mother was the visionary behind my jam-packed schedule. Bharatanatyam classes, piano lessons, theater, sailing, and whatnot. My life felt like a carousel that never stopped spinning.
But somewhere in this carefully curated chaos, I found my heartโs true compass: sailing. The rush of the wind, the discipline of the water, and the freedom of the sea felt like home.
I competed aggressively, winning 32 national medals and 6 international medals, ranking 94th in the world and 5th in Asia. And just three months before my 12th board exams, I created history by winning gold at the Asian Championship.
I still scored 86% and got into Chengalpet Government Medical College through the sports quota.
Balancing medicine and professional sailing was like living two parallel lives. I competed in seven international championships during my first year. Thankfully, my dean, a boxer in his youth, understood the importance of pursuing sports during their peak years.
But medical school changed me. I realized that medicine often stopped at prescriptions and procedures, while I had lived a life deeply shaped by nutrition, fitness, and the mind-body connection. That led me to functional medicine and I did my master's in internal medicine at the University of Edinburgh.
Over the past five years, Iโve helped countless patients struggling with PCOD, PCOS, allergies, gut issues, and chronic conditions, areas where modern medicine often treats symptoms, not causes.
Alongside this, Iโm the COO of MONDAY MONK, a fitness startup that integrates functional medicine, spiritual wellness, and holistic well-being for everyday people.
But how could I leave the sea behind?
In 2012, I missed the Olympics by one spot. It shattered me."

A has always been interested in booksโฆ so we have been reading to her from when she was a couple of months old.
When it came to identifying letters and words she started before Age 2, but it was a combination of memorising the words and reading a few letters and guessing.
But as it got more challenging she would give up.
Even with writing, she would get the letters inverted, and being the person I am, I had to correct everything and started taking the joy out of it. So we stopped for a while.
In school they had started the basics of phonics and writing (straight line/ curve etc), but it was over the summer when she was 4 years old that i sat with her with a workbook and thatโs when things really accelerated.
(I have shared the cover of the book - last picture on the carousel) You can DM for the link to download online for free.
When it came to reading - she would read a few words and then get tired and give up when it got too challenging or difficult - so i tried something where we would write each other short letters - it would be a personal message I want to say to her or it could be about cats/ dogs ๐
But she really wanted to write to me and read the things i wrote for her. So that got her interested.
There was also a concept of (sky letters, earth letters and ground letters) that helped her write within the lines and not all over the place.
We started with her name and other names of members of the family so that got her very interested.
Another thing that we encouraged was making hand made birthday cards for all her friends - so she would draw and write in them - soon she could write โDearโ and โHappy Birthdayโ without asking me for the spelling.
When she was 3 - she wanted to write her own book - so we stapled a few pages together and helped her think of an idea - simple sentences to write and draw.
She has made 3 books so far.
She plays the piano and paints (helps with fine motor skills)
Remember - Donโt let your frustration show - it causes a lot of pressure.
They will get it โค๏ธ hang in there! You got this!
But our favourites were the grilled tiger prawns - A had 3 ๐ , the broccoli soup. I loved the Biryanis and the meats.
And it was her first chocolate fountain and she was so happy.
Thank you for a wonderful time โค๏ธ
This world record was to celebrate 50 years of women personel in the TN police force.
Day 1 June 10th
We had an official send off from the Chennai Port with the chief guest Udayanidhi Stalin and the Tamil Nadu Police - DGP Sailendra Babu
We sailed from Chennai to Pulicat and back to Ennore. The wind was strong on our way back from Pulicat to Ennore and since we were sailing upwind it involved going in a zig zag sort of way so it was quite slow and hard for the crew.
Day 2 Ennore to Kovalam
It was one of the shorter legs that took only a few hours to complete. We reached in the afternoon
Day 3
Kovalam to Cuddalore
This day was the most challenging of the expedition
There was no wind in the morning so when we got into our boats it was bobbing over the waves and swell, so most of the crew got sea sick.
We started sailing and there were a couple of crew who were still sick.
We realised that we didnโt have enough food onboard, so halfway through a team on a fishing boat replenished our supply. We used this chance to offload one of the crew as they were extremely sea sick.
As we approached Pondicherry it was past sunset, so we had to prepare for night sailing. In the distance as the sun went down we could see lightning in the clouds. We knew we were going to face a storm.
But what I wasnโt prepared for was the heavy rain, the massive waves, crazy winds in pitch darkness. I even called my husband to tell him I was heading into a storm and I ๐ may or may not have scared the rest of the family.
An ETA of 8pm ended up being 1.30am. It was an experience of a lifetime. Since I was responsible not just for myself but for my crew.
It was commendable for all the first time police women crew to have survived that leg. It was test mentally, physical and emotionally. We reached the shore drenched and cold. My legs still continued to wobble after 18 + hours on the water.
I was glad to be back on land!
Made me question why I was doing this. But it taught me what I was capable of.
#grateful
The hardest question Iโve ever had to answer is....
What do I do?
I donโt do just one thing. And the things I do are a big part of who I am, but it doesnโt define me.
Donโt be afraid to do everything your heart desires.
Life is too short!
And in the end the only one that matters is the life youโve lived.
